Contrast what exists

\nMonuments galore
\nNeolithic persuasion
\nNo one should ignore
\nA landscape of uniqueness
\nSacred and sure
\nMonuments everywhere
\nAll rare and raw<\/p>\n
Our government agencies
\nLack judgement here
\nThey have no irreverence
\nFor me it is clear
\nSuch a desecration
\nUnflatteringly
\nWill destroy the perspective
\nOf all that we see<\/p>\n
Settlements ditches banks
\nIts all there
\nEnhancing The history
\nTo those now aware
\nRound barrows and burial sites
\nThere beyond
\nDetracting from what is
\nA wonderful bond<\/p>\n
With nature with ancientness
\nReally lets look
\nAcross the chalk grasslands
\nTo surrender each nook
\nand cranny
\nThe emptiness
\nour motherland
\nNow If we clear back
\nWe misunderstand<\/p>\n
Truly a heritage
\nAll that we see
\nDestruction it must not
\nBe the travesty
\nOf government thicko’s
\nWith plundering thought
\nThe placement the siting
\nSuch wisdom is caught<\/p>\n
Up in the layout
\nThe historicity
\nConstructing a feature
\nA ruinous plea

\nOf modern dissent
\nIts a total misnomer

What is a vast area
\nSteeped in history
\nIts conspicuousness seen
\nBy the world its a key
\nAspect of eminence
\nAnd what they propose
\nIs simple destruction
\nUnder our nose<\/p>\n
The Highways Agency
\nMatter of fact
\nIts about engineering
\nAnd how I react
\nTo their minsicule mindset
\nclearly to say
\nWhat is there must stay there
\nAnd we never should sway<\/p>\n
Away from the placements
\nExacting and true
\nWe live in our left brain
\nOur right brain though knew

\nOf this digital nonsense
\nI do so despair<\/p>\n
What will become of the monument

\nModern expression the injustice
\nFor then
\nWe are left with
\nInordancy and violation
\nA presumption of modernness
\nA lost salvation<\/p>\n
Leave it be
\nThink beyond
\nThe traffic today
\nSee with our hearts
\nLet the blood find its way
\nDown in the depths
\nCreate life force thats true
\nNot an ugly tunnel
\nFor newagers to screw<\/p>\n
Keep the great metal monsters
\nThat churn up the soul
\nThat bite into the sod
\nA presumptuous toll
\nOn the landscape beyond and away
\nAnd below
\nWhere our ancestors toiled
\nObligated to show<\/p>\n
What we have here is everything
\nOtherwise lost
\nAnd we have a duty
\nTo preserve,
\nFor the cost
\nOf losing so much
\nOn a tunnel would be
\nSacriledge monstrously so
\nActually.<\/p>\n
Since Covid great minds
\nDo apparently
\nSurmise that the traffic
\nIs going to be
\nLessened electric is
\nComing to bear
\nDown on the road
\nAnd thus does not compare<\/p>\n
Its the traffic of Now
\nThe long term view
\nIs reducing car ownership
\nAnd we see thats true
\nThe Global philosophy
\nNow seems to me
\nTheres no need for the tunnel
\nThe A303
\nwill cope
\nReduced traffic
\nRehabilitation
\nWith so much more under the site
\nThen the Nation<\/p>\n
Can rest on its laurels
\nKnowing that we
\nCan maintain the henge
\nAnd the funerary
\nMonuments likely
\nAround the great site
\nFor road building ruins
\nIt all in plain site<\/p>\n
