Clouds tipped with fire
\na golden glint
\na wondrous show
\nwe drove along the sea strand
\nand beheld the strangest glow
\nemanating ever, enveloping us all
\nas savage as a raucous sentinel’s survival call
\nthe dragon coughed and spluttered
\nas if to remind us, he
\nwas somehow mortal, the infidel
\nreptillian feature’s, he
\ncarressed the ground we drove upon
\nwhilst his own weight, sunk into
\nan ooze of his own making
\na fetid brackish stew
\na vile distasteful countenance
\ndeserving nothing more
\nthan ugliness apparent
\nand a dull derisive roar
\nthat echoes through the vast
\nblue sky
\nand deafens all who dare
\nto open themselves up
