We really have to ask ourselves
\nWhy we allow abuse
\nOf animals like the kangaroo
\nThere is no real excuse
\nThey are wild and they are iconic
\nTo Australia and they
\nHave been and won their totemic status and respect
\nAlong the way<\/p>\n
That we supposedly kindly
\nShould see them in the role
\nOf boxers in a boxing ring
\nIts so out of control
\nThe fact that they are naturally
\nReady to box a bit
\nEither in shows of strength
\nAnd or possibly keeping fit<\/p>\n
Its done out in the outback
\nIts a natural way of defence
\nAnd humans importing the kangaroo
\nReally makes no sense
\nCertainly not to the animals
\nIts destructive and its cruel
\nWhat is carried on in nature
\nIsnt as a rule<\/p>\n
Something that human beings
\nCan make money at no way
\nIts dangerous and its likely
\nTo be excessive anyway
\nAnimals have their place
\nWhere they were put and they should stay
\nAnd generally they do infact
\nThey respect their laws each day<\/p>\n
Within them they are not evil
\nThough they face affliction they
\nKeep themselves very much to themselves
\nThats the animals way
\nIts humans that conflate it all
\nThats really where we err
\nIts a way to make some money
\nAnd be exclusive and we were<\/p>\n
Back a hundred years ago
\nDoing it a lot
\nBut it was and is just vile abuse
\nReally we should not
\nTake wild souls from their habitat
\nAnd put them to work with tricks
\nTraining them in circus
\nOr even at the flicks<\/p>\n
Its wholly wrong and its human
\nBut its not humane at all
\nWild animals in circus
\nIs an anathema to fall
\nIt disturbs the equilibrium
\nOf the animals and we
\nShould be much more sensitive
\nAnd stop such cruelty<\/p>\n
There is a sharp obnoxiousness
\nAbout us and rotteness
\nIts hurtful but do we see
\nThe kangaroos at present
\nThey are being shot
\nJust for being wild
\nAnd It seems to me<\/p>\n
60,000 years they have romped
\nAnd managed
\nThrough massive droughts and
\nDifficulties but they
\nAre still here fighting back
\nAgainst the ranchers and the grey suits
\nAnd the greed and bloody arrogant
\nLike the flesh trade of the day<\/p>\n
K-roo and the lot of them
\nAll after making money excuses they have lots
\nIn many ways their brains are in their rectums
\nIn many ways they are a bunch of twats
\nThey cannot see with the eyes of the aboriginie
\nWho sees value as the wild breed that they are
\nWho treats them with respect who actually does detect
\nThe totally angelic wild bush star<\/p>\n
So bringing them to circus and to TV shows
\nShipping them abroad to such abuse
\nIts cringeworthy and flawed with bloody ignorance
\nIts harmful to us all and very loose
\nMorally its just asking for trouble
\nLessening their value over time
\nThe role they play in the maintenance
\nOf our countryside
\nFor without them you can see a gradual slide<\/p>\n
We desecrate the aboriginie wild lands
\nDisregard the sacredness as we
\nMine for coal or minerals
\nWe stride across their land
\nWe havent got a hope in hell
\nTo see
\nThe foolishness and ugliness
\nWe are doing
\nViolating totemic history
\nDesecrating sacred land
\nAnd sacred animals
\nUnderstand
\nOur commercialism
\nThe end, its going to be<\/p>\n
Stand back and watch the wildness
\nThe sky the outback all
\nThe aboriginie the kangaroos
\nThe kookaburra’s call
\nThe koala needs to climb the trees
\nSo knocking them all down
\nIs guaranteeing our arrogance
\nAnd in all of it we drown<\/p>\n
Realise for goodness sake
\nRespect the wild and be
\nOpen to the animals
\nOr otherwise we will see
\nDeserts creeping city ways
\nTowards our concrete towers
\nAnd disrespecting our native laws
\nWe shall in time lose all our powers<\/p>\n
