Melaka River
\nwas a tidal river
\ntill some bright spark
\ndecided they would try
\nto advertise it as Malaysia’s
\nVenice
\na boat ride to into Paradise
\nand why ?
\nso tourists get a peice
\nof Melaka’s history
\nthe river once a crodillian swamp
\nblock it from the sea
\nthe idea mooted
\nand put that in place
\nand that is what we see<\/p>\n
so the depth is high enough
\nand constant
\nthe tourist boats can ply
\ntheir way along
\nand who cares
\nfor the cat fish in the river
\nthey can close thir little eyes
\nand die<\/p>\n
when it rains and thats now almost daily
\nthe people in low lying land, alas
\nare flooded just imagine all the stress
\nthats caused
\nreally it affects souls now enmasse
\njust so tourists get a few hours on the river
\nI tell you someone’s judgements shot away
\nthe tourists would be better off
\nlooking at a river
\nnot watching a river die
\ngradually, each day<\/p>\n
the whole sad natural story
\nto do what they have done
\nproves to me poor judgment and just how it has won
\nwe should unblock the river
\nfeel the tidal flow
\nVenice is in Italy
\nif people want to go
\nthere they can, Melaka
\nhas a tidal river
\nand she
\nshould be proud it was God given
\nand really let that be<\/p>\n
