My mother Slick J16 she was
\nReally so caring and that was because
\nAll Orca mothers adore their offspring
\nThere was Mike Echo Alki and me
\nAnd the thing
\nWe all found, was out in the ocean and
\nsea
\nLife had become really hard
\nAnd to be
\nIn that existence
\nAll part of the whole
\nThe sum and the substance
\nEach knowing our role<\/p>\n
Nothing was easy
\nWith so much to learn
\nMother was purposeful
\nFull of concern
\nFor all us clearly
\nA challenging place
\nSocially active
\nLife at a pace<\/p>\n
We all were aware
\nOf the surroundings in which
\nWe lived and we learned
\nThe things that she taught
\nIt All did enrich
\nThe phenomenal outlook
\nThe state of affairs
\nThe matriarchs wisdom
\nAnd how else she cares<\/p>\n
So much to contend with
\nTo weaken us all
\nDespite being spunky and
\nAlways on call
\nWe knew she was rattled
\nBy influences she
\nHad little to do with
\nThe polluted sea<\/p>\n
Our family bond
\nIs the yoke and the power
\nIt gives us cohesion
\nAnd every hour
\nWe spend together
\nOur integrity
\nGrows like the wind
\nAnd our entirety<\/p>\n
Creates in us harmony
\nOrder and strength
\nTeamwork is good work
\nAnd we go to great length
\nTo establish this order
\nThis marshalling form
\nNothing does phase us
\nNot even the storm<\/p>\n
But there are many pitfalls
\nNot least the world
\nThe range of pollutants
\nIn which we are hurled
\nThe plastics the paints
\nThe rubber the noise
\nDDT Fire retardents
\nThey are hardly joys<\/p>\n
And so much more besides
\nLonglasting they
\nSicken and harm
\nAt the end of the day
\nMy sister Alki gave birth
\nToo she may
\nHave not been that healthy
\nAnd Sonic poor thing
\nBecame sick and died
\nAnd that death did bring<\/p>\n
Much melancholy
\nInside our group
\nThe Southern Resident
\nKiller whale troop
\nIt did set us back
\nMother was sad
\nIt all could be beautiful
\nBut we know that its bad<\/p>\n
Humans apparently
\nThere are many sorts
\nThose that care
\nThose they dont
\nAnd some with no thoughts
\nDriving the boats
\nMaking the noise
\nWe play we enjoy
\nLike all girls and boys<\/p>\n
Mother was assisted
\nThe rakes prove that she
\nWasnt as strong
\nAs I think she could be
\nWe are critically endangered
\nA long word I know
\nBut recently folks
\nI’ve been out of the flow<\/p>\n
A general weakness
\nAncestrally
\nMaybe the genes
\nMother passed onto me
\nBut the threats to existence
\nAnd the food quality
\nAnd The percentage of sickness
\nThroughout the salt sea<\/p>\n
Wild we are wild
\nLike the winds from the sky
\nWe are purposefully built
\nWith the clearest of eye
\nWe have capability
\nVigour and drive
\nBut so many of us
\nNow just cannot survive<\/p>\n
Since I have been poorly
\nI noticed that they
\nThe sensitive humans
\nThey have come my way
\nThey have shown concern
\nBut really overall
\nThe majority fail us
\nDriving us up the wall<\/p>\n
My mother had told me
\nOf my destiny
\nShe was powerless to help
\nBut had said to me
\nWhen the time comes
\nTo just go to sleep
\nAnd She would soon follow
\nDown into the deep<\/p>\n
So much over fishing
\nAnd dredging the sea
\nThe seine nets the long lines
\nAre a travesty
\nTyrannical forces
\nWant to destroy
\nWith their rigs and their drills
\nSuch a maddening ploy<\/p>\n
My head felt so sickly
\nUncomfortably so
\nI knew over the last few days
\nThat I would go
\nThe humans were out there
\nLooking for me
\nBut I had decided
