THE FAROES\/ICELAND\/JAPAN\/NORWAY<\/p>\n
Nationalistic lacking vision
\nObsessed with culture they
\nHave a predilection and insular display
\nA jaundiced eye blind sided
\nMy country right or wrong
\nParochial a one-track mind
\nThey don’t like to belong<\/p>\n
To any association
\nThat puts down rules and needs
\nThey feel they are being persecuted
\nA short-sightedness that leads
\nThem onto tunnel vision
\nAnd very severe
\nUnbending of the majority
\nIts a lot to do with fear<\/p>\n
They undervalue and misinterpret
\nAnd want to exercise
\nTheir right however wrong some think it be
\nTo realize
\ntheir misanthropic tendency
\nWhich comes across we feel
\nAs heartlessness and ruthlessness
\nBut it is very real<\/p>\n
And the whales are yes the scapegoats
\nFor the arguments abroad
\nThese great souls are the victims
\nThey should be our reward
\nAs humane beings on this planet
\nWith animal tribes around
\nEach giving something special
\nOf themselves which I have found<\/p>\n
The miracle of creation
\nCetaceans rule the sea
\nThe oceans are gigantic
\nGreat depths ofcourse there be
\nWe all should have a thankfulness
\nAnd recognize their gift
\nNot send our ships to hunt them down
\nAnd just give them short shrift<\/p>\n
Lack of appreciation
\nAnd ungratefulness its there
\nEach country has its scapegoats
\nIts transgressions what is fair
\nTo one is not to another
\nBut we all know what is wrong
\nWe just have different meanings
\nAs to where we do belong<\/p>\n
The majority believe that
\nMurdering animals is right
\nThere is a growing movement
\nThat its wrong but pushed out of sight
\nIn slaughterhouses
\nSequestered unadverstized
\nBut there
\nMillions of victims meet their end
\nIn bloodied despair<\/p>\n
The four countries above
\nEach have these outlets
\nAs we do
\nThey kill all the conventional
\nSouls
\nAnd, all torture them too
\nBut its all done behind closed doors
\nWe dont see Flesh or blood
\nWe dont hear screams
\nWe dont see streams
\nOf sinew or a flood<\/p>\n
We know, that its happening
\nIn one end in and out the other
\nAll chopped up and packaged
\nSo to have another
\nGood think about Japan
\nAnd Iceland who both feel
\nThe need to hunt on the high seas
\nFor they have whale appeal<\/p>\n
And they flense it in the open
\nWhere our cameras can see
\nThe gruesomeness of killing
\nIts below our dignity
\nTo accept that we are causing
\nThis carnage because we
\nWant to eat whatever food
\nIs provided so freely<\/p>\n
Its in our face we know it
\nWe are reminded constantly
\nSome look away they get upset
\nThey do not want to see
\nThey prefer the sanistized versions
\nOn the market trays
\nAll the countries that engage with whales
\nAre enjoying the same phase<\/p>\n
They are not indigenous people
\nUsing native rights
\nThey employ the age old methods
\nBrought up to date, the fights
\nBetween the taiji dolphins
\nAnd the faroes whales
\nAre bitterly hard to witness
\nWhen we see pregnant females<\/p>\n
The fetus torn from their bodies
\nWe cannot bear to see
\nTo think about the carnage
\nThats happening constantly
\nAnd so we tell those countries
\nStop this murdeting spress
\nLeave the whales alone
\nWe have enough food
\nActually<\/p>\n
They have retained their norseness
\nThe neanderthal approach
\nOf hand harpooning these mammals
\nWhether they encroach
\non us
\nOr we go looking for them
\nEndangered possibly
\nBut getting our heads around all this
\nIts too much it seems to me<\/p>\n
None of those countries are starving
\nAbundance is with all
\nWhales are special to the ocean
\nAnd the oceans are the call
\nOf the wild and we must respect that
\nThe wild souls shouldnt be
\nMurdered as they are around the world
\nUnsustainably<\/p>\n
I think we have to try and understand
\nThe norse idea
\nthe sea provides their sustenance
\nFor me that is clear
\nAll countries have sent whalers out
\nTo hunt in years before
\nBut realised and went along
\nWith the reason to abhor<\/p>\n
Such killings and the IWC
\nthe cooperative ofcourse
\nThe oceans need the great cetaceans
\nThey all extract its force
\nCreation knows the values
\nMan though unfortunatly
\nIs picking on the species
\nWith regularity<\/p>\n
There is no need for whales these days
\nTo be hunted as before
\nTo see the pilots slashed and torn to ribbons
\nOn the shore
\nTo see great whales in iceland
\nDragged back to the dock
\nAnd flensed with those unyielding tools
\nOfcourse it is a shock<\/p>\n
These Roquals are endangered
\nAnd just belly Or fluke
\nThe second largest cetacean
\nIt does make people puke
\nA waste of life the miracle of life
\nCreated for
\nThe oceans they are part of all of us
\nAnd for evermore<\/p>\n
Pollution and destruction
\nAnd over fishing we
\nAll now have a duty of care
\nWe all must see
\nThere is a case for conscience
\nFor an ethical regard
\nBe socially responsible
\nAnd really push this hard<\/p>\n
MY hope with understanding
\nThe four nations will think
\nWe all need much more respectfulness
\nFor I fear we have reached the brink
\nAll the whales command respect
\nEach and every one
\nAnd its up to humane beings
\nTo watch them in the sun<\/p>\n
To understand their need to thrive
\nAnd not be hunted to
\nExtinction let the familes be
\nIts disloyal what we all do
\nWe know the population
\nIs rising by the day
\nBut we must not act like neanderthals
