The whale watchers
\nhad paid their dues
\nHeading out
\namongst the blues
\nA choppy scene
\nand pale blue sky
\nEverybody wondering why
\nThey were able
\nto be there today
\nOn the sea
\nso far away
\nFrom where they lived
\nall hopefully
\nWanting to see
\na whale and be<\/p>\n
Able to feel
\nits energy
\nIts massive tail
\nand great body
\nComing up
\nfrom the depths below
\nReally just
\nto say Hello
\nAnd exhale and breathe
\nAnd then go back
\nTo its darkly depths
\nto just back track<\/p>\n
Cameras clicking
\nhis big eye
\nSaw them and ofcourse
\ndid sigh
\nAs a great harpoon
\nhe felt it hit
\nAnd explode in troughs
\nof agony it
\nDeep Into his flesh
\nhis eyes were lit
\nUp with expression
\nand awful pain
\nAs his blood gushed upwards
\nAnd then did drain<\/p>\n
life flashed before him
\nEach memory
\nCame and was gone
\nAll he could see
\nAnd then no more
\nThis greatful soul
\nWas drawing his last breaths

A cry went up from the whaling men
\nFrom the whaler watchers
\nNumbering ten
\nWinching his bulk to the side to drag
\nBack to the dock a kind of flag
\nFor the watchers to see
\nHow Iceland can feel
\nIt is right to watch
\nAnd when they reveal
\nThemselves
\nTo slaughter them
\nOne by one
\nTwo fin whales
\nWhat had they done<\/p>\n
They came to allow
\nThe watchers to be
\nthrilled by their size<\/p>\n
