A Sunday in Oxfordshire
\nA celebration
\nThe fifty fourth birthday
\nOf a special soul
\nA raven haired lovely
\nA witch Good and true
\nA quintessence quality
\nOne of the few<\/p>\n
Long Compton’s history
\na magickal haunt
\nWhere covens of witches
\nDid one time flaunt
\nSpirits and deities
\nOxfordshire stone
\nAnd genuine thatch
\nAnd, the odd crone<\/p>\n
A Path leading off the road
\nLed away to the right
\nTo Whichford Pottery
\nTucked away out of sight
\nThe “keelings” brainchild
\nFrost proof and home made
\nFlower pots of red clay
\nIn the stock yard were laid<\/p>\n
A courtyard
\nA stockyard
\nThe straw kitchen where
\nTea and cakes proffered
\nAnd much they could share
\nThe Octagon gallery
\nShowed off its pots
\nAmidst some nice
\nPlantings of specimen
\nLots<\/p>\n
A mindness availed itself
\nAn aura as well
\nhighly priced pots
\nThat probably sell
\nBut we thought them sadly
\nToo expensive today
\nand the “Hwicce”river
\nWhere the name comes from
\nThey<\/p>\n
speak of a ford on a river
\nSomewhere
\nBut no one is actually
\nFully aware
\nWe drove through the lanes
\nPassed the walls of dry stone
\nAll of this knowledge ancestors
\nHad known<\/p>\n
Onto Little Rollrights
\nThe stone circle where
\nOn the top of the hill
\nBy the three faeries there
\nLooking down into Chipping
\nThrough the fields of gold
\nOf barley and corn
\nPretty much sold<\/p>\n
On the fact that this was the place
\nWhere we would
\nNow have Our picnic
\nit was good if we could
\nIn the warmth Of the afternoon
\nSeemingly we
\nCould rest up a while
\nBefore heading to tea<\/p>\n
We sat there just dreaming
\nOf rituals that we
\nHad participatedin
\nAnd so to be
\nHere just relaxing
\nWith the sights and the sounds
\nWas lovely and peaceful
\nSharing the grounds<\/p>\n
The light brought its clarity
\nAnd a slight breeze
\nWith the stones and stick faeries
\nThat truly seize
\nThe moment and hopefully
\nIt doth remain
\nIn the positive box
