A decade of existence
\nCoercion to exclude
\nEvery breath of freedom
\nUnyielding and crude
\nIn CIRCO NAVARRO
\nDisciplined and made
\nIt was a life sentence
\nUpon her shoulders laid<\/p>\n
Interned in fact
\nUnder arrest
\nHer claws torn out
\nThe pain
\nThey amputated her first toe
\nReally just to gain
\nA reason to be extra cruel
\nAnd easier to train
\nLet out for each performance
\nAnd then thrown back Again<\/p>\n
Under constant curfew
\nIn a tiny little cage
\nChoking back her sadness
\nUnable to show her rage
\nClapped in irons lets say
\nA galley slave a wretched knave
\nRestrained in every way<\/p>\n
Severity and discipline
\nThe order of each day
\nDraconian laws and rigour
\nShe was made to pay
\nPitilessness and relentless harshness
\nTerrible abuse

\nAnd then one day the ADI
\nCame to bring some light
\nTook her and her friends
\nOut of the cages
\nInto other not as tight<\/p>\n
Crates they were
\nIn hay so soft
\nAnd a toy or two
\nClean and smelling sweetly
\nWith a nicer view
\nShipped away to Africa
\nTo enclosures truly green
\nGrasslands for our aching paws
\nThat had never been
\nOn anything but cold dark concrete
\nNow the softness felt
\nBeautiful it gave under our wight
\nThe cards were dealt<\/p>\n
We were back in Africa
\nThe country of our birth
\nFeeling the sun upon our backs
\nKnowing life was worth
\nLiving again a beautiful tyre
\nWas hanging bringing joy
\nHow I loved to swing on it
\nMy own true rubber toy<\/p>\n
Mine yes mine allne
\nSomething belonged to me
\nI could breathe the warm fresh air
\nKnowing that I was free
\nNo more ugly tricks in rings
\nOf sawdust and the baying crowd
\nNo more whips across my back
\nAnd all that music loud<\/p>\n
