Wildness smacks enchantment
\nThe opposite though is true
\nAnd May lead to a rewilding
\nIts what arrogance can do
\n“A ready to turn dirt development”
\nIs not an attractive sign
\nIts born out of a lack of understanding
\nDown the line<\/p>\n
A countryside where nature
\nIs not seen at odds with those
\nWho live within its boundaries
\nIn harmony who chose
\nThis resourceful area
\nWith cherished wild life and
\nA purposeful existence
\nAnd a sharing of the land<\/p>\n
The air is generally cleaner
\nCreativeness abounds
\nWhich leads to inspiration
\nAnd a concept that astounds
\nSurely in tune with Nature
\nA true air of tranquillity
\nThat is bound to stay rhapsodical
\nAnd the area will always be<\/p>\n
Sought after by the caring
\nThose aware who feel
\nThe ethic in each moment
\nA community thats real
\nConcreting out the wildness
\nIn a non reversing way
\nIn the long run is destruction
\nAnd for that we all will pay<\/p>\n
When closing in on the bushlands
\nSensitivity
\nNeeds to be on everybodys mind
\nIts so easy
\nTo ruin years of creation
\nWhich can never be brought back
\nDevelopment is positive
\nIf it doesnt lead to an attack<\/p>\n
Our wildlife friends
\nAre all around us
\nLiving as they do
\nIn a harmony and wisdom
\nThat for us is good and true
\nWe must realise their great wealth
\nAnd appreciate all they
\nDo for the environment
\nThat we all share every day<\/p>\n
As we encroach still further
\nInto the broader sphere
\nForgetting there are others
\nWho also live near here
\nThe wild souls of Australia
\nThe wonderful Kangaroo
\nAnd all the other creatures
\nThat live around us too<\/p>\n
Its the heavenly part of what we have
\nAnd those of us who choose
\nTo live closer to Nature
\nThen with vigour never lose
\nThe empathetic mindset
\nTo share and care beyond
\nEach “little concrete castle”
\nWhich all of us are fond<\/p>\n
Habitats are changing
\nBut it doesnt have to be
\nDestruction of the wildness
\nThat creation helped us see
\nCity dwellers caked in concrete
\nEscape, they often try
\nTo get back to their actual roots
\nWhere enchantments born of high<\/p>\n
But here we are in Packenham
\nLooking at whats proposed
\n40 acres of dense housing
\nAnd a commercial zone
\nAnd likely in the throes
\nOf losing what God gave us
\nBut what we musnt do
\nIs sacrifice the wildlife
\nThats out there with us too<\/p>\n
We have to remain sensitive
\nGive them the space around
\nHave that wealth of understanding
\nPreserve the growing ground
\nLive within ones ardour
\nBe enthralled and sure
\nThe naturalness around us
\nIs for us, to explore<\/p>\n
The builders and the planners
\nNeed to think about the way
\nSome corridors for wildlife
\nAre included for all pay
\nHeavily its respect thats needed
\nIn developments where we
\nNeed A written deed perhaps
\nWhere mindfulness is key<\/p>\n
I live in a town called berkhamsted
\nNear ashridge a forest where
\nHenry the 8th once frequented
\nSome of the trees now there
\nAre 300 years 400 years old
\nWhere lots of fallow deer
\nAnd munkjacks and wild foxes
\nAnd badgers bring their cheer<\/p>\n
Living in or near the forest
\nWe must clearly be aware
\nWe might lose a few daffodils
\nWe build fences and stay aware
\nWe can live with the other tribes
\nWho give us so much and
\nBy living close to nature
\nWe learn to understand<\/p>\n
People from other countries
\nCome and see what we
\nWere gifted in the scheme of things
\nAnd really how we be
\nForward looking and caring
\nOf the wild ones on the land
\nWho have been hear many centuries
\nAnd that all of this was planned<\/p>\n
By much higher authorities
\nThan what is coming here
\nWe must thank our ancestors
\nAnd remain expressly clear
\nThat we shall be remembered too
\nAs a people who could share
\nWhat we had with the gifted ones
\nWhich is why they are still there.<\/p>\n
