Whats behind it
\nThey had motive
\nThere were profits by the score
\nIt was light and therefore adaptable
\nLike nothing else before
\nIt ticked a lot of boxes
\nManufacturing cost
\nEconomically speaking
\nWas good and so we lost<\/p>\n
Our senses really in the pursuit
\nOf profit
\nCaution wasnt shown and those involved
\nWere ignorant of the environmentsl problems
\nAnd now ofcourse insurmountably its solved
\nWith Mountains of it in our precious land fill
\nOur oceans scream, dead zones are everywhere
\nA by product of petroleum is stifling all life
\nAnd causing as we see such huge despair<\/p>\n
Carbon-carbon bonds break down so slowly
\nPolypropylene is everywhere
\nOrganisms have never come across them
\nThe environment had nothing to compare
\nWe have made our beds and now we have to lie on them
\nThousands of years and still they are intact
\nInjuriousness the plague is really rampant
\nLiving souls are hoodwinked as we see
\nCetaceans are consuming it and dying
\nAs dead zones now frequent and fill the sea<\/p>\n
The fish we eat are loaded with such woefulness
\nThe calamity is increasing by the day
\nThe plastic manufacturers were never ever visionaries
\nFor Their arrogance above all else, we pay
\nIt is a dirty business making plastics
\nAnd those that do it must be made to pay
\nIn many ways we all were overdaring
\nWe failed to see the treachery in play<\/p>\n
We never had the warnings that we should have had
\nScience had been infiltrated by
\nThe corporate world of doing what they wanted
\nWe all became the victims on a lie
\nPlastic has to last but must it be a thousand years
\nA maximum of one year might have saved some of our tears
\nBut as it is there are no organisms that can eat
\nThe carbon carbon bonds and so this factor has us beat<\/p>\n
The dash for profit sees all ethic stifled
\nChallenging the corporates wont do
\nThey are in defiance and are brazen
\nBelligerent and bellicose yes too
\nThere is no such thing today as reciprocity
\nTheir aggressiveness and pugnacity shows through
\nThe planet is now suffering and constantly
