\nThe Hvalur 9 has just come back
\nHaving caught two whales
\nThe way
\nAhead apparently
\nIs Iceland wants to whale
\nThey believe its worth the effort
\nThough to me its beyond the pale<\/p>\n
They have two largish Fin whales
\nEndangered Sadly so
\nThese whales will not be eaten here
\nBut Japan Takes them we know
\nThe Minke is the chosen whale
\nIn Iceland but to see
\nSuch carnage really from the blue
\nWhere is their humility\uff1f<\/p>\n
Whale watching is a tourist thing
\nIt makes sense afterall
\nWhy kill endangered species
\nWe must ask ourselves whose call
\nIs it to risk tourism
\nJust to please Japan
\nAnd watching them destroying life
\nBrings to mind a ban<\/p>\n
Despite the IWC and the world thinking
\nIceland has a quota for this year
\n191 Fin whales in the offing
\nWhich if it happens really theres a fear
\nThat more and more will be killed
\nEach year and quotas
\nWill increase and its really
\nFor Japan
\nIceland risks whale watching
\nAnd its tourist trade
\nIn real terms how can this be
\nA good plan?<\/p>\n
Iceland eats far less perhaps
\nThe Minke
\nIts the tourists eating whale
\nThese days alas
\nMore and more icelanders are put off
\nBy eating whale
\nAnd many more believe really
\nIts crass
\nJapan apparently sits in a time warp
\nUnconscious to the world view
\nIt believes
\nIts always hunted whales
\nAnd wants to eat them
\nAnd what it wants it does
\nAnd that achieves<\/p>\n
Its ends
\nIt doesn’t feel its being mercenary
\nMorality in this context will not do
\nWe are the abomination for questioning
\nTheir honour
\nThey don’t feel guilt nor shame
\nAnd thats their view
\nNo such thing as improbity
\nIts just what they do
\nThey despise the countries
\nWho wont hunt whales
\nAnd they seem clueless to<\/p>\n
The resentment and infact
\nThe indignation
\nAnd manage to encourage whalers who
\nHelp them with their hunting
\nAnd Norway and Iceland both appear
\nTo violate the ethic
\nWhich They do<\/p>\n
For us they lack compassion
\nEco suicide
\nits not within their gambit
\nThey are not prepared to ride
\nOn that wave to oblivion
\nTo reach their paradise
\nTheir pitilessness is powering
\nAnd for them it does suffice<\/p>\n
Without boycotts
\nThat are meaningful
\nI dont believe that they
\nWill ever change tack on this
\nThere is no judgement day
\nThey have a different set of rules
\nThey are callous and quite hard
\nThe east is the east and the west is the west
