What rationality could horses expect
\nEngaged in war
\nMade to fight an enemy
\nAnd be cut down for sure
\nUp against the machine guns
\nAnd the enemy who would aim
\nAt the horses everytime
\nAs history did claim<\/p>\n
Their fear must have been massive
\nIrrefutability
\nRidden through the blazing fire
\nOf what was true depravity
\nUnderfed exhausted with utter
\nVulnerablity
\nThose that made it through the skirmishes
\nWere slaughtered unmistakably<\/p>\n
Front line soldiers clearly
\nWere made positive that they were there
\nBut to be a horse in wartime
\nMust have been utter despair
\nDragging guns and ordnance
\nAmbulances and field kitchens too
\nThrough deep mud under constant fire
\nWhat would it do for you<\/p>\n
Some horses were experiments
\nUnwarranted untenable
\nGroundless and irrelevant
\nThis was wholly damnable
\nUsed to pass on glanders
\nLoose thinking thats for sure
\nThe kind of tunnel-vision
\nMade in times of war<\/p>\n
And at the end of engagements
\nSurviving horses some
\nWere Shot to death or sent off to
\nThe slaughterhouses come
\nNow such a perversion
\nAbuse beyond the pale
\nThankfully the Brooke trust was formed
\nAnd care and love prevail.<\/p>\n
