Wiltshire boasts chalk downlands
\nA largely treeless tract
\nA place buzzing with energy
\nAnd how people react
\nTo seeing Stonehenge closeup
\nRising from the green
\nTo assimilate with Nature
\nWhich apparently has been
\nA constancy for aeons
\nIts genuineness complete
\nAnd its prehistoric footprint
\nIs now laid at our feet<\/p>\n
The bus it has brought us
\nA short walk away
\nAnd the druids, they descend
\nClad in their robes and regalia
\nAnd are about to wend
\nTheir way up to this monument
\nThe morris men in tow
\nPeeling to the left
\nAll now in the flow<\/p>\n
The grass it is luxurious
\nA spellbinding green hue
\nClutching at our shoes
\nThe sarsons coming into view
\nTheir ancient faces given
\nTo the light that comes to bear
\nThat escalates our feelings
\nAnd makes us all aware<\/p>\n
We are going back in history
\nAugmenting as we do
\nStanding in the footprints of the ancients
\nGood and true
\nPeerless and unequal
\nAnd At this moment feel
\nThe energy bouncing off the stones
\nWhich is beginning to reveal<\/p>\n
A softness and a protective aura
\nA veil from long ago
\nOur circle is contained within
\nThe sanctum
\nAnd we know
\nTogether being whom we are
\nOur ritual underway
\nThe freedom to enjoy ourselves
\nAt the best time of the day<\/p>\n
There is an amalgamation
\nOf energies for we
\nFeel that league
\nThat union
\nIts not something you see
\nIts a wholeness and integrity
\nComprehensively
\nUndivided and undiminished
\nIts a new found harmony<\/p>\n
The ritual underway
\nThe brightness of the light
\nThe music of the morris men
\nIn their traditional flight
\nThe tourists on the path outside
\nInterested too
\nAnd the corvids nesting on the stones
\nDoing what they do<\/p>\n
Our gathering depicting
\nPerhaps a circle where
\nWe quaff some mead and do partake
\nOf fruit perhaps and some home made cake
\nZakoor imparts an ode or two
\nReminding us what we can do
\nWe ephemeral beings who
\nStand on this chalk plain
\nWe Share our treasured moments
\nAnd hopefully all gain<\/p>\n
An insight into antiquity
\nAs with ancestors we share
\nOur footprint in the inner sanctum
\nOur energy now there
\nFull blown and vigourously
\nLeft behind to be shared around
\nPerhaps For an eternity.
