A noble soul the terrestial one
\nLooks very menacing in the sun
\nLikes to climb trees
\nBut can be shy
\nHibernates from May to August
\nHolds a rank thats high<\/p>\n
There are a number of species
\nBut Australia knows that they
\nFrequent its wild and rocky
\nPlaces
\nAnd have done so for many a day
\nRock art from thousands of years before
\nSaw its fearsome glare
\nA hefty tail a tell tale tongue
\nAnd teeth to be aware<\/p>\n
Aboriginies hunt them
\nAnd its been said that they
\nCan drag off sheep these predators
\nWho scavenge too some say
\nInto carrion poisonous snakes
\nThe saliva a toxic threat
\nClearly they do look formidable
\nAnd Some are big enough to get<\/p>\n
People to raise their hackles
\nSome say their oil can be
\nMagical its healing properties
\nApparently
\nMirculous a cure all
\nBanjo wrote his poem

Once seen seldom forget them
\nThe water the lace the sand
