Speak to the average hunter
\nAsk what they feel about death
\nWhat life means to them
\nAnd why they believe
\nThey have rights to deny
\nSomeone rbreath<\/p>\n
whoever they happen to
\nCome upon
\nWhat its like for a pure soul
\nTo die
\nWho has the right to end
\nSuch a life
\nDo they ever ask themselves why<\/p>\n
Every soul does have a family
\nSo death and destruction
\nwill mean
\nOthers will mourn
\nthe loss, its upsetting
\nTo do this
\nfor sport feels obscene<\/p>\n
Hunting a sanitised method
\nOf slaughter for victims who are
\nIn the wrong place at the so called
\nRight time
\nAnd for a second at least
\nAre the star<\/p>\n
To be shot or be trapped
\nAnd then slaughtered
\nSome butchered and others just left
\nSome may escape to die by themselves
\nHumanity then is bereft<\/p>\n
Of the miracle that was creation
\nThe predator prey aspect here
\nThe imbalances it causes wherever it happens
\nAnd tragically raises much fear<\/p>\n
Predators operate diffently
\nThey pick out the old and infirm
\nThe weak and the already dying
\nAny that are close to their term<\/p>\n
The hunters so called they are after
\nThe best and the biggest the prime
\nSo they look brave with their photo
\nImbalancing time after time<\/p>\n
Changing the real face of wildness
\nRemoving the strong for the weak
\nIts man’s total arrogant attitude
\nReality shows up the freak<\/p>\n
The insensible insentient
\nSo called
\nOblivious to the real scene
\nHardened or callous
\nUnseeing and inured
\nA machine<\/p>\n
Not susceptible to the poor victim
\nNor impressionable in any case
\nPerhaps titillated arousing an urge
\nTheir compassionate gene not in place<\/p>\n
Cowards about pain yes it follows
\nInflicting the end game some do
\nFail to consider the anguish
\nAnd the torment that comes quickly through<\/p>\n
Its sixth sense aware of your being
\nPerceiving more than you perceive
\nAnd The mindlessness of the assassin
\nThat the caring and wanting believe<\/p>\n
Is missing it pehaps wasnt present
\nHunters are pleasured by death
\nNot death of their family but death
\nOf a quarry
\nAn unreasoning notion of breath<\/p>\n
They judge that a victim is fair game
\nWithout substantive evidence they
\nStill believe they have an endorsement
\nTo take out who ever that day<\/p>\n
Deductive reasoning is not in the frame
\nSophistry is more their path
\nThey have flaws in their argument
\nMost of the time
\nCausing very significant wrath<\/p>\n
To the innocent capable animals
\nThey conflste the wrong arguments they
\nHave a lack of vision which I view with derision
\nMade in their insular way<\/p>\n
Its cliquish and jaundiced perhaps self deception
\nAnd A selfish discriminatory thought
\nPrecondemned spirits lost in a maze
\nBoasting and quite overwrought<\/p>\n
Ignorance thats at the zenith
\nUnconscious oblivious too
\nAnd probably unacquainted
\nWith Nature and what she can do<\/p>\n
Unread and lowbrow backward and dull
\nTo the pleasures of cameras and art
\nTo music and poetry the more right brain stuff
\nThe qualities sent from the heart<\/p>\n
Following the ways of the spurious
\nThe deluded the spivs and the crooks
\nThe lying the mendacious the twisters the sheisters
\nThose with the shadiest looks<\/p>\n
With animals losing their habitats
\nWith poachers creating their sin
\nWith all forms of illegal killing of species
\nThe pet trade, the fur trade to pin<\/p>\n
Them down really at any moment
\nIts obliteration we see
\nFar eastern medicine bush meat
\nCanned hunting for trophies now be<\/p>\n
At the head of the queue all around us
\nThe evils of corporate gains
\nAnd with hunters so called
\nWho have not been schooled
\nIn the order of Nature
\nThe chains<\/p>\n
Are everywhere traps and destruction
\nA bias for trophies as well
\nTrump turning over the elephant pieces
\nWe are turning this planet to hell<\/p>\n
It is intractability personified
\nMulishness now at a height
\nSupported by guns and ammunition
