Being born in the ocean
\nThe Atlantic Ocean
\nA fifth of the planet was where
\nI and my family were all free to wander
\nAt depths nobody dare compare
\n12,000 feet going deeper
\nAs old as the hills you can say
\n250 million years
\nThe life force was power all the way<\/p>\n
When I was caught I was swimming
\nNear Iceland that volcanic place
\nThe energy there was explosive
\nThe vigour there goes at a pace
\nFrom there I was shipped to Barcelona Zoo
\nA hell of a place I can say
\nFrom the might of the ocean
\nWith all its devotion
\nTo a zoo more discordant each day<\/p>\n
For 13 long years I was all on my own
\nI was socially exciting and free
\nTo be left on my own it was debilitating
\nThe conflict was inside of me
\nRaging a tumult at variance
\nWith all of the freedoms before
\nI died many times in my heart and my soul
\nAnd SEAWORLD broke every law<\/p>\n
The harmony and understanding
\nOur pod was the best pod around
\nWe sang to the very same hymn sheet
\nAnd we all pulled together and found
\nFortune and skills that were lovely
\nWe just had a perfect rapport
\nAnd then to be left in a lonely old zoo
\nWell it got really into my core<\/p>\n
I was defiant and daring
\nTrying the brave face but I
\nFound it enormously challenging
\nAnd after ten years just to die
\nWould have been some path I felt like taking
\nThey were brazen to me at that zoo
\nAnd then when I got into Sea World
\nThey were insulting there too<\/p>\n
It became like a war in my psyche
\nAn incursion of all I held dear
\nI was up against it
\nAll of that chlorine
\nIll fated so stricken with fear
\nThe oxygen there was so choking
\nThe taste of that chlorine so vile
\nI swam in the waste of my making
\nMile after mile after mile<\/p>\n
They put themselves up as my master
\nDespots I just have to say
\nThrowing my buckets of out of date fish
\nAnd expecting me to go and play
\nTricks for the moronic people
\nScreaming it sickened me so
\nThey made me feel like their servant
\nDependent on them yes I know<\/p>\n
For dead fish for drugs and for torture
\nEnslavement my yoke was their soul
\nDowntrodden by the resentment
\nHeld down and made to control
\nMy feelings of leaping and weeping
\nNone of these feelings could I
\nHave in the tank where I listlessly sank
\nWith my dorsal bent over thats why<\/p>\n
Custodians the so called trainers
\nWithout my consent they would give
\nAll sorts of antibiotics and drugs
\nPushed into the dead fish, I live
\nIn this soup of a tank in my urine and poo
\nA cocktail of chlorine and what made it blue
\nNot just the blue tiles but chemicals they
\nAdded i know what they did every day<\/p>\n
Orca’s have feelings and emotions too
\nWe are responsive like some of you
\nI had deep feelings for my mama
\nShe was my guru she was a star
\nWhen I got to SEAWORLD the heartaches I knew
\nA waking nightmare the torment was true
\nSo broken hearted so full of woe
\nAnd I have been long suffering
\nAs you folks all know<\/p>\n
40 years old the pain of it all
\nThe sexual abuse that as a rule
\nDown behind closed doors thats what they do
\nIts all insufferable and has been all through
\nIts pulled at my heartstrings and brought me to tears
\nCaused so much trauma over the years
\nI would just love to die to just melt away
\nFor its soulless down here being just made to pay<\/p>\n
I am leaden and heavy and ready to go
\nWith the angels that come for us
\nAs well we know
\nResigned really honestly to waste away
\nBereft of all hope as a matter of course
\nDare I say
\nGo down to the bottom
\nAnd stay there and be
\nAsleep forever
\nLet eternity<\/p>\n
Wrap me in splendour
\nAnd just let me be
\nUpright and good
