{"id":36670,"date":"2018-04-26T16:19:41","date_gmt":"2018-04-26T16:19:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/?p=36670"},"modified":"2018-04-26T16:51:58","modified_gmt":"2018-04-26T16:51:58","slug":"beltaine-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/2018\/04\/beltaine-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Beltaine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The clang of the gate<br \/>\nAnd the dusty old way<br \/>\nThrough the gleam of the trees<br \/>\nAnd their spangled display<br \/>\nAtop of the hill looking<br \/>\nAcross to the sky<br \/>\nOver Chipping Norton<br \/>\nWhere the bright fire and eye<\/p>\n<p>Stare back at the robed ones<br \/>\nThe procession of friends<br \/>\nBelo-tenia  the fires of belos<br \/>\nThe bright one that sends<br \/>\nSummer and light up into the sky<br \/>\nAnd all note the hawthorn<br \/>\nWhose blossoms are why<\/p>\n<p>A wealth of serenity<br \/>\nAnd its heady scent<br \/>\nThat sits in the hedgerows<br \/>\nAnd clearly is bent<br \/>\nOn its great scintillation<br \/>\nOf blossom and thorn<br \/>\nOf new life and really being glad<br \/>\nTo be born<\/p>\n<p>Rollrights resplendent<br \/>\nIn ancient regard<br \/>\nWith the light on the stones<br \/>\nThat have withstood the hard<br \/>\nThe soft and the wet<br \/>\nAnd have weathered the storm<br \/>\nHaving soaked up the auras<br \/>\nAnd do now transform<br \/>\nancient to modern<br \/>\nIn so many ways<br \/>\nAs we form our circle<br \/>\nAnd Just feel the blaze<\/p>\n<p>The dynamic interplay<br \/>\nThe cycles we know<br \/>\nThe light and the dark<br \/>\nAnd the ultimate glow<br \/>\nThere the glorious maypole<br \/>\nIts ribbons do fly<br \/>\nThe dancing is joyous<br \/>\nAnd we all know why<br \/>\nThe land its fertility<br \/>\nBlossoming fast<br \/>\nSo many green shades<br \/>\nAs the magic is cast<\/p>\n<p>The ritual is open<br \/>\nAnd all may attend<br \/>\nZakoor is present<br \/>\nOur poetry friend<br \/>\nHe stoops at the feet of Bragi by name<br \/>\nAnd summons ancestors<br \/>\nTo come join the game<br \/>\nTo observe and enjoy<br \/>\nThe diadems sweet<br \/>\nThe cake and the fruit<br \/>\nAnd the mead<br \/>\nAll complete<\/p>\n<p>A mark of respect<br \/>\nTo a season the ploy<br \/>\nOnce again the veil thins<br \/>\nAnd a portal of  joy<br \/>\nOpens and ushers and within our sight<br \/>\nthe landscape is happy<br \/>\ninfused with bright light<br \/>\nDiadems thrusting<br \/>\nBuds kind of busting<br \/>\nAdjusting entrusting<br \/>\nEach robust dusting<br \/>\nOf pollen and perfume<br \/>\nIt swells and its builds<br \/>\nAnd heightens perceptions<br \/>\nDrawn from the green fields<\/p>\n<p>Cherry blosson<br \/>\nBridal fae<br \/>\nSweetest blossom of the day<br \/>\nMay a wealth of soft serene<br \/>\nBursting from a thorny green<br \/>\nJasmines faery tresses soft<br \/>\nFirery spangles sit aloft<br \/>\nRosemary&#8217;s delicate lilac showers<br \/>\nLike gossamer ladies butter flowers<br \/>\nAll the greens around we see<br \/>\nEngage with spirit earnestly<br \/>\nCandy for the eyes of man<br \/>\nIn the grove where all of life began<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The clang of the gate And the dusty old way Through the gleam of the trees And their spangled display Atop of the hill looking Across to the sky Over Chipping Norton Where the bright fire and eye Stare back &hellip;
