What VIVA was able to see
\nBroke their heart
\nIn dark filthy sheds
\nReally from the start
\nCruelty raises its ugly head
\nAnd so many animals
\nDo wind up dead<\/p>\n
Goats are inquisitive
\nAnd love to roam
\nSocially active
\nImpacted by filth
\nIt is not how their home
\nShould be
\nThey are sensitive
\nAnd they enjoy
\nFriendship with others
\nAnd it does annoy<\/p>\n
Goats to be split up
\nAfter forming a bond
\nThey are mothers for goodness sake
\nAnd clearly are fond
\nOf roaming the fields
\nAnd chatting away
\nBut farming them now
\nIts just doesn’t pay<\/p>\n
There are always excuses
\nIt does seem to me
\nFarmers and profits
\nApparently
\nDont go together
\nAnd thus cruelty
\nRaises its head
\nIts how it has to be<\/p>\n
Milk means a pregnancy
\nThat means a birth
\nAnd industrial milking
\nWhat is it worth
\nTake kids away
\nFrom the mothers
\nAnd see
\nHow the mothers react
\nThey care obviously!<\/p>\n
Men on these farms
\nJust look upon
\nGoats as mere animals
\nAnd when they are gone
\nMore can be bought
\nAnd without respect
\nCruelty sets in
\nif nothing is checked<\/p>\n
It becomes really terrible
\nEmotionally
\nThese farmers are thicko’s
\nMany don’t see
\nThat goats do get mortally upset
\nAnd they
\nWill restrict their output
\nAnd then ofcourse pay<\/p>\n
Getting punched in their udders
\nImagine that pain
\nAnd beaten with sticks
\nAgain and again
\nThese are sensitive beings
\nWith order and rank
\nAnd just dont take kindly
\nTo a place that is rank<\/p>\n
Debudding their horns
\nCastrating them too
\nIts a painful proceedure
\nIts not what you do
\nAs a farmhand who gives you the right
\nNot the law
\nIs downright distasteful
\nSomething to abhor<\/p>\n
With no vets around
\nAnd the treatment they get
\nMany get sick
\nTHe chaos can set
\nThem back the disharmony
\nIt isnt right
\nEmbroiled in this human shit
\nYes day and night<\/p>\n
Milk and cheese is big business
\nAnd Markets out there
\nare powerful entities
\nThey dont want to share
\nMargins with farmers
\nThe slippery slope
\nMeans the goats take the can
\nFor them little hope<\/p>\n
They get the blame
\nThey get pushed around
\nAnd nobody sees them
\nIn woe they are drowned
\nSuffering quietly
\nLocked in their shed
\nFed very badly
\nAnd some wind up dead<\/p>\n
Free range and and organic
\nAnd grass fed amount
\nTo labels for sales
\nSome do not count
\nConvictions for cruelty
\nAre sparse one can say
\nFarm animals suffer
\nIn every way<\/p>\n
Male kids are slaughtered
\nIn very quick time
\nMother will pine for them
\nIts a big climb
\nIn the life of a mother
\nTo lose a dear child
\nBut the farmers dont care
\nAnd thats soon recociled<\/p>\n
The spin offs are many
\nSickness and pain
\nLameness and output
\nAgain and again
\nFarmers blame animals
\nThats what they do
\nIf production goes down
\nThe goats go down too<\/p>\n
Many dead goats are just
\nThrown in a heap
\nTreated like rubbish
\nTheir lives are so cheap
\nMotherhoods weakening
\nPoor diets too
\nAnd lack of fresh air
\nSadly its true<\/p>\n
Undrinkable water
\nAnd revolting smells
\nMalodorous pens
\nNothing there jells
\nLeft in semi darkness
\nWithout natural light
\nWithout the fresh pasture
\nOn which they delight<\/p>\n
These are curious souls
\nInterested they be
\nOne could say they are mindful
\nAnd like to feel free
\nSo contained in a dark place
\nAnd screamed at all day
\nYou can realise how
\nThey feel and why they must pay<\/p>\n
As for consumers what do they care
\nFor them its just money
\nThats when they are aware
\nOf how much it costs
\nAnd thats what we see
\nThe goats become slaves
\nSuch an absurdity<\/p>\n
If it were not for VIVA
\nAnd animal rights
\nThe animals suffering
\nWould be at heights
\nBeyond understanding
\nUnlooked and uncared
\nJust abyssmal suffering
\nWith bad karma shared<\/p>\n
