The drone of the didge
\nAnd the clap of the sticks
\nWhere the termites exist
\nThe goanna licks
\nHis lips giving thanks
\nFor the bird he has eaten
\nThe people have power
\nBut they have been beaten
\nDown by the whites
\nThrough the clouds and the wrath
\nThe lines in their faces
\nThey are taking the path
\nOf the light through a darkness
\nThe dreamtime and on
\nTo the place of the heroes
\nWhere many have gone.<\/p>\n
Where the white spirits dance
\nIn the spread of the flame
\nA land beyond time
\nWhere the dark angels claim.
\nTheir place in the aura
\nThree million square miles
\nLook into their faces
\nWitness their smiles<\/p>\n
They are a lost people
\nWith no place to go
\nNot given the courtesy to
\nJoin the flow
\nThey get just aloofness
\nAnd Ostracised they
\nHave their private world
\nAt the end of the day<\/p>\n
Hiddenness captures
\nThe want of their soul
\nReleasing their purdah
\nWhich lets them control
\nTheir segregation
\nTo ghetto’s where they
\nWitness the wilderness more
\nEveryday<\/p>\n
They have a belonging
\nTheir spirits are high
\nThey have lived on this earth
\nUnder their sky
\nFor thousands of years
\nTheir togetherness reigned
\nA credible people
\nWho should have never been chained<\/p>\n
A gregarious people
\nWith lots of street cred
\nThey sang and they danced
\nAnd they joyfully led
\nEach other along
\nBut what we now see
\nIs a standoffishness
\nTo a people so free<\/p>\n
A foraging bent
\nSuch knowledge such grace
\nAn enlightened people
\nPart of a race
\nOf true blown Australians
\nOwed lots of land
\nOwed much respect
\nAscribable and<\/p>\n
Needing the privilege
\nOf history
\nTo recover their rights
\nAnd their
\nimmunity
\nTheir inalienable rights
\nAnd security
\nTo be what they are
