Blue Whale

Oil food clothing and tools
That was the bounty of the worlds
Whaling fools
Who set out to slaughter
The greatest of beasts
Just because they could
And their devilish feasts
Took place in the oceans
Decades ago
With horrendous results
For the whales as we know

Oil was extracted
For lamps and for soap
For perfume and candles
And cosmetics
No hope
Cooking oil margarine
Meat clothing too
Corsets and umbrellas
All this is true

There were once
Up to 200,000 alive
In every ocean
They did survive
Now perhaps 1500 to two thousand and five
Immense dinosaurian
And now they strive

To live where they can
And a number appear
To be off Sri Lanka
And its very clear
In those deep troughs and canyons
Out there
These stupendous beasts
Are Managing to share

Near Batticaloa
Submarine canyons
Seem to provide
Enough Krill
40 million is their requirement
Each day
And it would appear
Enoughs there
And they stay

Sri lanka’s civil war
Raged through the land
Providing a sanctuary
I understand
Whilst this was raging
The whales peacefully
Got on with existing
And just being free

Human intervention
The whalers
Such grief
Such intolerable agony
So some relief
Japan in its roguish
And ignorant way
Is still killing whales
Even today

Norway and Iceland
They kill whales too
And collisions with ships
Happen, they do
The Blues are the largest
Whale ever to be
Swimming great mountains
Of flesh actually

A penis for eight to at least
10 foot
A heart weighing 400 kilos
When put
Like this
Its length 100 feet
Weighing 140 tons
Nothing can compete

Can reach 30 miles per hour
Averaging twelve
Its tongue weighing in
And you dont have to delve
Far to find out
That they weigh some 3 ton
And thats what its about

These giants are out there
At about 5Ofeet
Below the surface
Having to compete
With our vast great tankers
And great ships that ply
The shipping routes now
Where collisions are high

So remember Sri Lanka
Is gifted and they
Are seeing a lot and man unkind’s way
Is all about profit and making a buck
And now we see whale watching
Whose pushing their luck?

Tourism growing all sorts of boats
Blue whales are timid
Now if a boat floats
Some one will go out
And get much too near
And cause these whales stress
Agitation and fear

Despite their great size
They are gentle and they
Serenely enjoy the sunlight
The way
they breathe
Through their column spouts
And go below
Is gentle and thoughtful
And part of their glow

Perfectly streamlined
A beautiful hue
These are living mountains
Their dimension on view
It does take ones breath away
They are immense
But graceful about it
Their aura intense

An unfathomable spirit
An emotional sense
They inspire empathy
They are soulful and hence
Can overwhelm us with their lyrical glee
Leaving us breathless
And eager to be

Closer and closer
To their pulsating power
They arouse and excite
They are vocal and how
Evocative truly
Right off the scale
Stately and dignified
That enormous tail
Or fluke does unsettle
It magically goes
Into the depths
Worthy of fine prose

There is a calmness
Surrounding the Blue
Such poise and self-control
It feels so true
So much long suffering
With Hunting before
But clearly now stoic
Unmoved and sure

Very intuitive
And sociable they
Seemingly sense
In a wonderful way
Whether its safe
To surface close by
Those who would watch them
And who would rely

On them as extraordinary
And incredible too
They clearly are curious
In what they do
But their great size is baffling
I do have to say
That It may move you to tears
In a beautiful way

Which is why i might question
The whalers of old
And the present day scum bags
Who still remain sold
On hunting great whales
And watching them die
Without seeing their courage
Great knights Who belie
Their grandness their heavenly
Aura and grace
But with the exploding
Harpoons in their face

Such squalor such evil
A nation of lies
Who talk up research
But do not realise
We know the game that they
Play man for man
We know the evil
That is JAPAN

The minke’s are suffering
Such a heartache
In the Southern Ocean
All the rules they break
A sanctuary there
Turned into purgatory
And such desolation
And woe actually

The Blue Whale now thankfully
Seemingly should
Off the island of Sri Lanka
Feel that they could
Remain in those canyons
Where so much rich krill
Is present all year
Where they can have their fill

Where their children can be safe
Just to live on cloud nine
The isle of the blessed
Where the old sun does shine
More understanding of the Blue whale
And a mutual respect
So good can prevail.

Oil food clothing and tools That was the bounty of the worlds Whaling fools Who set out to slaughter The greatest of beasts Just because
