\nHas reached a total high
\nIts where inconceivability
\nIs a logjam in the sky
\nIts unthinkable in wild terms
\nNot feasible at all
\nExchanging what was harmony
\nFor wire cages and a wall<\/p>\n
Its illogical and sloppy
\nUntenable and unsound
\nIt gives a wrong impression
\nPerhaps its wishful thinking
\nFor me it does astound
\nIts like having a fixation
\nImagining that we
\nCan discriminate and be so unfair
\nUsing partiality<\/p>\n
Its all about obsession
\nWith a business and a plan
\nmisinterpreting the vision
\nAs to how it all began
\nUnderrate and undervalue
\nThe creatures who will be
\nExhanging all their wildness
\nFor what is iniquity<\/p>\n
Lahore Zoo was unconscious
\nIts backwardness would be
\nBewilderingly obvious
\nBut zoo’s just cannot see
\nThe uncertainty the unwisdom
\nThe imperfect knowledge they
\nBeing so unknowing
\nAnd insensitive they play<\/p>\n
Into what is cruelty
\nInexpert afterall
\nAn elephant from a forest
\nFreedom is their call
\nTheir truth their authenticity
\nOur absurdity
\nOur misjudgement our illusion
\nOur pathetic fallacy<\/p>\n
Suzi came when she was six
\nOur mendacity
\nDeceptiveness was rampant
\nSuch hypocrisy
\nTaken from the jungle
\nFrom a social family where
\nShe would have faced terror
\nAnd a journey of despair<\/p>\n
Swindling and skulduggery
\nSharp practice all the way
\nUp against our roughness
\nAnd the drama of each day
\nThe angst and the discomfort
\nThe actual bodily harm
\nThe bull hooks and the outrage
\nAnd continued alarm<\/p>\n
The abandonment from family
\nNot enough to eat
\nUnderfinanced undercapitalized
\nReally off the sheet
\nUndernourished feel the lack of care
\nA child taken away
\nSold to the lowestbidder
\nWho was going to make her pay<\/p>\n
A total lack of planning
\nAn unsuitability
\nObnoxiousness and nastiness
\nAnd pure morbidity
\nPainfulness maltreatment
\nUnkindness all the way
\nDeleterious and destructive
\nShe expected to obey<\/p>\n
No exercise to speak of
\nTortured every day
\nInjurious and damaging
\nAn ominous delay
\nIn feeding her sometimes for days
\nMischevious and wrong
\nOften she would left standing
\nIn her feces for a long
\nTime for her so nauseous
\nSickeningly so
\nAnd they would take it out on her
\nFor months on end you know<\/p>\n
In all the heat unhygenic
\nMaggoty and wrong
\nShe dreamed about her jungle life
\nWhere she did belong
\nNot in this dark dull area
\nTotally alone
\nScoffed at by the keepers
\nMatted to the bone<\/p>\n
She could feel herself deteriorating
\nReally losing weight
\nImpoverished and exhausted
\nShe was in a state
\nBattered frayed and shabby
\nOut there every day
\nBegging them for money
\nWhich the keepers put away<\/p>\n
Inertness was her master
\nImmobility
\nLifelessness and languor
\nBecame debility
\nWeariness was evident
\nNothing for her to do
\nBut gradually go mental
\nSway and swing all through<\/p>\n
It became her vale of sorrows
\nDays of misery
\nNobody to talk to
\nNobody to see
\nThe keepers they were hostile
\nThey beat her just for fun
\nLife became so terrible
\nWhen the day was done<\/p>\n
Chained up she was hurting
\nHopeful death might come
\nResigned to her abandonment
\nUnder the great thumb
\nOf lahore zoo a jail in fact
\nA horrid place to be
\nUnder curfew day and night
\nA lost soul actually<\/p>\n
She died last May
\nGave up the fight
\nHer legs were gone and she
\nCouldnt sit doen snymore
\nShe just stood there painfully
\nHopeful that her eyes would remain closed
\nFor evermore
\nThis prison in which she was forced
\nTo be
\nA hell hole of gore<\/p>\n
She was in a waking nightmare
\nEvery single day
\nAfflicted by her surroundings
\nNo where could she play
\nEternal damnation
\nHer fate worse than death
\nWretchedness and sadness
\nShe didnt want the breath<\/p>\n
Wounded and heavy laden
\nHaggard and alone
\nPlagued by inactivity
\nEvery single bone
\nAched each time she moved
\nDespondently she cried
\nOut to her dear mother
\nWho was on the other side<\/p>\n
After her death the zoo
\nDecided they would bury her
\nFor 5 months and then dig her up
\nYes honestly They were
\nWanting to give her tired old bones
\nTo the university
\nAnd her skin went off to a place
\nAnd she was stuffed apparently<\/p>\n
And now that awful prison
\nWants amother pachyderm
\nAnother victim to torture
\nFor another term
\nThese evil zoo’s should be shut down
\nThey are evil through and through
\nIts up to all of us to say
