Pageant seems to really be the order
\nOf the day
\nAnd elephants apparently
\nAre essential so they say
\nThey dress them in regalia
\nAnd heavily chain their feet
\nAnd walk them on the concrete roads
\nIn all that awful heat<\/p>\n
They add the drums and cymbals
\nAnd crowds of people there
\nImagine how a wild elephant feels
\nIf they would only share
\nThe harmfulness the hurtfulness
\nThe unkindness and cruelty
\nHow long would they cope with it
\nIt is a travesty<\/p>\n
These most majestic pachyderms
\nMaltreatment isnt right
\nReligion needs to wake up
\nIt creates a blight
\nAnimal rights they have none
\nIts a wretched life they lead
\nLamentable and contemptible
\nWhere internally they bleed<\/p>\n
Chaining them is altogether abusive
\nThey violate their freedom
\nEvery day
\nIts just a form of exploitation
\nTypicsl of the buddhist nation
\nManhandling Yes its torture in a way<\/p>\n
That now in this day and age
\nWe all should realise
\nAnimals have rights
\nAnd we must see
\nAn end to all this painfulness
\nAnd suffering
\nSuch trials and tribulations
\nShouldnt be<\/p>\n
This monk who recently lost his life
\nTo violence
\nPushed about by an elephant we hear
\nThey are being pushed about by mahouts
\nAnd sometimes they cant stand it
\nWhich is clear<\/p>\n
The wildness in an elephant is paramount
\nDespite the buddhists teachings
\nHow they fail
\nIs forgetting that when hopelessness
\nEnters the equation
\nWhen the elephant’s made to go beyond the pale<\/p>\n
That is when the elephant is dangerous
\nIntimidated by a mortal fright
\nElephants have long memories
\nA factor to appreciate
