Out there on the highway
\nWith traffic speeding fast
\nNobody was stopping
\nHear the horns vile blast
\nAnd “hobnob” was just standing there
\nHopeful he would be
\nAble to get out of there
\nSomehow to be free<\/p>\n
From clearly this adversity
\nHit by a speeding car
\nA huge wound on his shoulder
\nReally thats how far
\nWe have come with our humanity
\nAn injured innocent soul
\nClearly close to death
\nIs waiting but somehow has control<\/p>\n
Enough to hope and quietly
\nRealise that he
\nMay have a chance someone may stop
\nThe threat now is the key
\nClearly impending danger
\nOf being hit again
\nBut somehow had the strength of nerve
\nTo suffer all that pain<\/p>\n
And then some guardian angels
\nWere suddenly by his side
\nTwo of them so gently
\nHis time they would bide
\nA truck they parked in front of him
\nAnd carried him inside
\nAnd took him with the angels
\nHe wouldnt be denied<\/p>\n
Animal aid had found him
\nHe was on his way
\nTo the angel hospital
\nNot that far away
\nShaved and cleaned and
\nBandaged
\nFlushed with liquids he
\nWas left to rest and they did their best
\nEach day to keep him free<\/p>\n
Of possible infections
\nThey dressed his wound each day
\nAnd in 54 days of love and care
\nAll their work did pay
\nOff “Hob nob” was happy
\nHis wound was healed and he
\nWas with a lot of other donkeys
\nClearly he was free<\/p>\n
From the pain and all the suffering
\nFrom his past all that was gone
\nHe was in a sanctuary
\nWhere his life could follow on
\nHe was happy being loved and cared for
\nEvery single day
\nAnd you could feel that acknowledgment
\nIn every single way<\/p>\n
They really are true angels
\nWho come when all seems lost
\nAnd spend their time a loving
\nSouls at whatever cost
\nTo actually care and love someone
\nThats Clearly in distress
\nIs what this world is lacking
\nAnd Animal Aid redress<\/p>\n
I looked into that donkeys eyes
\nAnd saw a soul in pain
\nAble though to stand his ground
\nAnd in essence gain
\nAn elevated status
\nHe would stand there He would be
\nDespite the fear surrounding him
\nStay spirited and free<\/p>\n
It would have been so easy
\nLost to purgatory
\nTo have just laid down
\nAnd waited yes waited just to be
\nHit again and hit again
\nAnd be fretting constantly
\nBut “Hobnob” wasnt ready
\nTo face that misery
\nHe was sure the angels
\nWere coming obviously<\/p>\n
Long suffering and downtrodden
\nOn life’s highway
\nWhat we saw
\nWas an animal with inner joy
\nHoping still for more
\nHe was stricken he was wounded
\nHe was careworn And in pain
\nBut somehow had the strength of mind
\nAnd resource to remain sane<\/p>\n
