It once was said
\nwe are man’s best friend
\nbut in Thailand its not true
\nin some homes
\nwe are treated well
\nbut alas so very few
\nfor strays and those of us
\nstolen, by the hunters
\nwe realise that Hell
\nis only around the corner
\nfor its then, the devils sell
\ntheir lack of any culture
\ntheir evil spreads like fire
\namongst us, many perish
\nin what is a death thats dire
\nthey only know the basest of crimes
\nwhich they violate all through
\nthey do not feed us
\nor give us water
\njust torture, kick and try
\nevery means to break us
\nand of course some of us
\ndie
\nits the way these dog meat handlers
\ntreat us
\nas if we’re dead already,
\nin a word
\nthey treat us so abominably
\nthey make us pray for death
\nthey hurt us
\nthey are terribly unfair
\nto us each day
\nif they are sentient humans
\nthen we canines must scream,
\nthis nightmare that they put
\nus through is one sick violent dream
\nthe crates they push us into
\nare filled with blood and snot
\nblue bottles the size of spitfires
\nlay eggs on us and rot
\nwe now await the final thud
\nwhen they hurl us down
\nwe shudder, and we shiver
\nand we shake have we reached town
\noften our legs are busted
\nwe’re whimpering, and we take
\non all this sick behaviour
\nthat our human charges rake
\nbludgeon us,and kick us
\nbroken tortured souls
\nwe’re thrown about like
\nbits of rag
\nwhere are the controls?
\nfor those of us still breathing
\nwe’re force fed
\nwhat a crime!
\n3 of the hoodlums jump on us
\nand brutally time after time
\nforce this stinking pipe into our stomachs
\nand they pump
\nthey bust our teeth its beyond belief
\nand they bruise our aching rump
\nthen its smash us with some pole
\nor something hard about the head
\nand haul us into a boiling tub of water
\nthat’s the bed
\nwe lie in for a moment, before
\ndeath comes, and we
\ncan float off into somewhere
\nwhere we would rather be
\nforced to leave your human world
\noozing with abject fear
\ncut up and shipped to Laos
\nor Vietnam, or eaten here
\nThailand calls itself the people’s
\nParadise,
\npalms and sand and sunshine all the way
\nBut for dogs like me its the worst hell
\never thought of
\nman’s best friend, not here
