Amber eyes
\nLight bearer dazzles
\nThe Sundabans
\nIts mangroves where
\nA shooting star and avid fireball
\nA lightening flash and so aware<\/p>\n
Hiding in dense forest
\nWaiting
\nCadmium henna ochre blush
\nStriped and handsome
\nSuch an image
\nShadowy before the rush<\/p>\n
Camouflaged obscured eclipsed
\nPowerful clarity of eye
\nGlaring staring even sharing
\nIts vividness I know not why<\/p>\n
The Sundabans a vast arena
\nA verdant leafy bright domain
\nWhere sombre leaden waters flourish
\nAnd villagers fish for to gain
\nThe tiger he the forest keeper
\nWithout him the balance lost
\nFor luminance he brings the lustre
\nBut sometimes at a dreadful cost<\/p>\n
To villagers who hunt for honey
\nOr fisherman along the banks
\nPicked off and dragged into the jungle
\nA man eater, well he ranks
\nHigh up on the demon evil
\nFear he strikes through every one
\nIn stealth he visits sometimes nightly
\nAnd all know when his work is done<\/p>\n
Maneaters are a scourge to darkness
\nTheir furtiveness and their desire
\nLove to ambush covert smothered
\nUndercover souls of fire
\nSilent prowling cloak and dagger
\nA low profile they may take
\nUnder cloak of darkness moving
\nThe tiger really is no fake<\/p>\n
A warrior a poser really
\nFull of learning full of fight
\nWhen they get a taste for humans
\nSuch destiny is far from right
\nAs anger builds a village maybe
\nReady to go hunt the beast
\nBash its brains out in the forest
\nWhere they think it enjoys its feast<\/p>\n
Someones mother someones brother
\nSomeones cow or someones goat
\nThe angst is out there
\nand will be growing
\nClearly its a thing of note
\n400 tigers in the forest
\nEach is valuable ofcourse
\nBut when one searches out a human
\nThen the villagers by force<\/p>\n
May search it down and bash its brains out
\nIt can happen and it may
\nWith villages so close to Tigers
\nBe a price too much to pay
\nAnd so one village they decided
\nTo train some village dogs to see
\nHow they would cope at being tiger hounds
\nTo warn and keep things free<\/p>\n
Really only lowly mongrels
\nBut several minded to do things right
\nTo use the training they were given
\nAnd act as one in any fight
\nAnd so the training began in earnest
\nAnd was expected to thus deter
\nAny would be man eating tiger
\nFor clearly out there now there were<\/p>\n
Animals drawn to the village
\nAnd drawn to human beings who
\nClearly are a tasty offering
\nAnd its hoped these dogs will do
\nThe work of warning sleeping people
\nThey themselves will not be phased
\nAnd hopefully it will quieten down
