Unworldly possibly guiless
\nWe wander
\nThrough the forest the new forest
\nAnd We ponder
\nOften together thinking
\nHow peaceful it is here
\nWhere idyllic glades and sweeping moor land
\nErupts to bring us cheer<\/p>\n
Shadows cast by forest trees
\nHeathers burning bright
\nTracts of open pasture
\nAnd the vividness of light
\nWe are forest ponies
\nAnd we enjoy the space
\nThe freedom that just wells up in you
\nWalking at a pace<\/p>\n
Taking in the frosty air
\nAnd sharing the bird song
\nPuffing as we mount a slope
\nIt is where we belong
\nThe roads though are a problem
\nThe humans drive too fast
\nEspecially in the blackness of the night
\nWith shadows cast<\/p>\n
Those unfriendly beaming light shafts
\nThat can suddenly appear
\nErratic and dramatic bringing
\nWith it abject fear
\nWe love our lives together
\nThere are several ponies who
\nTruly love each other
\nAnd care yes we all do<\/p>\n
We know the road is dangerous
\nAnd humans seemingly
\nDrive fast on their headlights
\nWhich is dangerous actually
\nFor me despite my caution
\nLast evening I alone
\nWas walking closer to the road
\nAnd was clipped, a broken bone<\/p>\n
In my leg and injuries
\nInternally oh dear
\nAlone out in the darkness
\nAnd none of my friends near
\nThe motorist sped off
\nAnd I was in some agony
\nShaking like a leaf I was
\nWondering how I’d be<\/p>\n
It was cold and frosty
\nAnd I was in deep shock
\nI decided I would close my eyes
\nSomehow try and block
\nIt all out of my psyche
\nJust try to rest a bit
\nKnowing I was hurting
\nSomewhere in the pit<\/p>\n
Of my stomach
\nthere was lots of pain
\nAnd my leg was throbbing so
\nAnd clearly such an injury
\nForced my soul to go<\/p>\n
When the others found me
\nThey realised that I
\nHad been clipped and was broken
\nAnd, that I did die
\nAnd so they all held vigil
\nPerhaps I was asleep
\nAnd their collective caring
\nWould reach however deep<\/p>\n
Its true that we are animals
\nOf the tribe equine
\nOur love for one another
\nReally does align
\nWith love sharing and caring
\nIts an undertaking we
\nAll devote to each other
\nWe engage collectively<\/p>\n
It probably took a half an hour
\nFor me to die today
\nAnd all because of some speeding car
\nIf some of you would pray
\nFor my soul and the other ponies
\nWho have had to die
\nAt least those left can ponder
\nAnd hopefully apply<\/p>\n
more care close to the road at night
\nNot be skittish and unaware
\nThats when accidents happen
\nAnd thats linked with despair
\nSome drivers Put their foot down
\nImagining that we
\nCould never be crossing the road
