We have an air of decency
\nagainst each killing spree
\nOf roguish rotten hunters
\nwhose place in history
\nIs to be vile and scornful
\nChasing a wee soul
\nAcross the English countryside
\nOut of all control<\/p>\n
Taking hounds left hungry
\nBrutal to the case
\nCausing a sweet angel
\nWith meanness and disgrace
\nA law was passed that banned them
\nTheir superiority
\nTheir lack of humiliation
\nBanned them made them see<\/p>\n
Saboteurs and others didnt want them here
\nDressed up bloody dandies
\nWith a feather in each ear
\nBut where are the police as these snobbish oafs
\nMake their drunken charade
\nWith their followers on quad bikes
\nWhose dark contempt is laid<\/p>\n
Into the free spirits
\nOf the angels who will try
\nAnd witness this vile hunting
\nAnd prevent that any die
\nWho have no respect for others
\nNo respect at all
\nThey ride clad in their hunting clothes
\nAnswering the call<\/p>\n
The fox the darling wild one
\nLeaves his earth and runs
\nLike the wind across the fields
\nBehind him tons and tons
\nof squawking drunken
\nRiders
\nBugles to the fore.
\nI have a low opinion
\nOf their niggling carping war<\/p>\n
Swearing indignation
\nA few home truths they need
\nRiding down us angels
\nSome sadly will bleed
\nCharged at yes on horseback
\nSlashed at with the whip
\nMaking accusations
\nAnd giving us the slip<\/p>\n
All that sad sarcasm
\nA biting tongue to match
\nScolding us and skating us
\nWanting just to catch
\nThe red fox brush a wavering
\nUnflatteringly so
\nI hold no brief for hunters
\nWho think they bloody know<\/p>\n
They all need a good kicking
\nThey heckle and they hiss
\nThey think they are posh
\nBut it doesnt wash
\nThey just take the piss
\nThey taunt and try to pillory
\nAnd often smack us down
\nOn their so called thorobreds
\nAs they ride away from town<\/p>\n
We get the flak and bad reviews
\nWhen we are on their case
\nSnide remarks mud slinging
\nYes right in our face
\nWhatever they do in their weektime
\nThey are a common mob
\nWith allegiance to nobody
\nNo better than a yob<\/p>\n
Many are basically wicked
\nThey want to kill and see
\nThe hounds not only catch the fox
\nBut kill it painfully
\nTheir baseness their venality
\nTheir infamy we feel
\nTheir complicity is obvious
