The Black Cod or the Sable Fish
\nIs supposedly real good
\nFisherman use long lines
\nBaited as they should
\n5 miles of line dropped overboard
\nTo reach the bottom they
\nWait for bites then haul them up
\nWhich hopefully does pay<\/p>\n
Apparently the sperm whales
\nWho know a thing or two
\nWatch all this a happening
\nAnd what do you think they do
\nThey wait until the lines
\nare being pulled in
\nFrom below
\nAnd take the black cod off
\nthe hooks and eat them
\nAnd then go<\/p>\n
They believe the fisherman
\nAre doing it for them
\nCatching many hundreds
\nFeally its a gem
\nOf a thoughtful understanding
\nBut the fisherman dont agree
\nThey are losing out and big time
\nInterllectually<\/p>\n
And each year it gets harder
\nMore whales down below
\nThey recognise the fishing boats
\nEngines thus they know
\nWhen to use their reasoning power
\nTheir stream of consciousness
\nIts extra sensory perception
\nNothing more nor less<\/p>\n
The fishermen and Science
\nSeem startled by it all
\nThat sperm whales would be able
\nTo really overhaul
\nthe puzzle
\nThey are setting
\nThe arrogance of man
\nUsing spotter planes
\nAnd miles of line
\nbecause they can<\/p>\n
We steal the fishermans bounty
\nWe have brains of a size
\nWe are thoughtful and contemplative
\nIt should come as no surprise
\nWe also are communicative
\nSharing the knowledge we
\nHave Which really brings success
\nWhich we pass on merrily<\/p>\n
Why hunt out in the darkness
\nWhen there is a great fish tree
\nAll you do is pick them off
\nWith such profundity
\nThe association of ideas
\nSeems to stump them all
\nThey imagine they are cleverer
\nThan us yes as a rule<\/p>\n
They overlook that we are
\nThe cetaceans of the sea
\nInside our heads are brains
\nAnd we use them evidently
\nWe are equipped with sonar
\nAnd amazingly big brains
\nAnd We do swim rings around them
