Listening to the Faroes hunter
\nOn his boat whilst hunting he
\nComes out with such hogwash
\nFor me its just hypocrisy
\nEach bird he throttles how he loves them
\nAnd the natural world where he
\nSpends his time a hunting
\nWith such duplicity<\/p>\n
These birds are little babies
\nAs yet they cannot fly
\nThey sit upon the water
\nAnd because of that they die
\nNot from Natural predation
\nBut for Faroe hunters who
\nScoop them up in nets
\nAnd screw their heads off
\nWhich they do<\/p>\n
When each baby gets this treatment
\nImagine how distressed
\nTorment and angst ridden
\nSurely such a test
\nReally of this magnitude
\nOn such a tiny soul
\nJoyous of creation
\nCondemned to such a role<\/p>\n
One after another
\nThis is what they do
\nIts actually revolting
\nTo hear a hunter’s view
\nHow much he loves these wild birds
\nAnd feels that they should pay
\nFor he us going to eat them
\nBut not every day
\nSuch euphemistic claptrap
\nWhich, makes my poor heart bleed
\nIt was eaten back in history
\nBut now its purely greed<\/p>\n
These birds are long lived
\nBut won’t breed until the age of 8
\nSo every single bird thats killed
\nEach miracle to create
\nIs purely wasted in the general scheme of things
\nAbroad
\nEconomical with the truth
\nTo gain their sick reward<\/p>\n
The reason for this torturous death
\nIs to prevent the bird
\nFrom vomiting up its stinking ball
\nFor it would have occurred
\nA malodorous foul oily discharge
\nMeant to ward of ill
\nBut by tearing off the head and stomach
\nThe ocean gets the swill<\/p>\n
The season is a short one
\nBut the numbers killed are high
\nIn that two week period
\n100,000 die
\nBird killing boats
\nAre on the lookout for the pilot whales
\nAnd radio back if a pod is sighted
\nWith all the details<\/p>\n
Our mother has her way
\nThough
\nwhen she sees just how unfair
\nThe Fulmars carry a disease
\nAnd ten percent will share
\nChlammydophilia Psittaci
\nFlu like symptons they
\nCan work into pneumonia
\nWhich hopefully does play<\/p>\n
Out inside the hunters
\nAnd affects them for I say
\nThe need is there
\nto cause them despair
\nFor whats happening today
\nThe torture and the murdering
\nPut down to culture here
\nKilling seabirds as they do
\nIs becoming clear<\/p>\n
They are killing off so many
\nPuffins now are scarce
\nArctic Terns and Kittiwakes
\nAnd guillimots are worse
\nTheir eggs they have to ration
\nOr they would eat them all
\nNot because they are starving
\nTradition comes to call<\/p>\n
Thousands die in gill nets
\nBy-catch so to say
\nProcessed food is not for them
\nWhen its hand caught its the way
\nDrinking snapps with fulmar
\nIs culture thats for real
\nA natural state of melancholy
\nIs something they allege
\nSo when the sun warms up the earth
\nIt just gives them that edge.<\/p>\n
All that true affection
\nfor Nature i have to say
\nIt really does my head in
\nThat all these wild souls pay
\nA price their lives are important too
\nCreation made them so
\nBut the Faroes islanders interpretation
