With ancient villsge sitings
\nAnd relics of all sorts
\nWhen you come to Stonehenge
\nWhat really grips your thoughts
\nIs the ancientness around you
\nBeneath your feet you feel
\nThat energy the imagination
\nIt just feels so real<\/p>\n
It is a sacred landscape
\nAnd who knows whats below
\nThe first world war tunnels
\nBuilt there all those years ago
\nAt Larkhill
\nAnd outside the MOD land
\nWe surmise
\nIt is riddled with artifacts
\nWhich I am sure most realise<\/p>\n
Avebury and Stonehenge
\nAnd Woodhenge and we know
\nLong barrows and ditches
\nAnd much of it on show
\nWhat is a wild life haven
\nMany rare wild plants
\nAnd butterflies and birds
\nAnd insects nothing there by chance<\/p>\n
Embrace the pre-existence
\nThe historicity
\nFeel the enduring flush of those
\nWho lived essentially
\nBelow our feet or around a bout
\nAnd who moved these stones to where
\nThey now stand, for us all to see
\nTheir aura’s still to share<\/p>\n
Much to be discovered still
\nAlongside all we see
\nThe ethereal the emblematic
\nAnd the imaginary
\nThe blue stones from the presili hills
\nThe sandstone sarsens too
\nSomehow reached the present site
\nAnd standfast good and true<\/p>\n
Adjusted balanced stabilized
\nLifted and aligned
\nLunar and solar axis
\nA temple of the mind
\nGenerous proportions
\nA venerable regard
\nWhat is ofcourse astounding
\nAnd breathtakingly hard<\/p>\n
A Unesco World Heritage Site
\nTourists everywhere
\nA major road with countless cars
\nAdds to the despair
\nDwarfed by modernisation
\nAnd the randomness of now
\nTuned into the cacophony
\nBut really wondering how<\/p>\n
Bird or beast or druid
\nCan sense the inner world
\nThe spirit world the ancestors
\nThe awen for being hurled
\nInto what is present day
\nThe great commercial sphere

Animals around us
\nSend their vitality
\nTheir healing is revealing
\nAn inner knowledge, we
\nCan pick up on it inside
\nThe stones more so than then
\nwaiting on the Road back home
\nThe portal of awen
\nIs not So easily accessible
\nNecessarily to draw
\nDown into the spirit
\nAs it was before<\/p>\n
The wild souls that frequent
\nThese parts
\nPossess the ability
\nWhether Buzzard or Barn Owl
\nThat facility
\nThe Adder or the Roe Deer
\nCan aurically proclaim
\nWhat is timeless and eternal
\nTheir everlasting flame<\/p>\n
It is transient to many
\nPossibly thats so
\nBut at the ritual some will feel
\nThe wind when it does blow
\nA seasonal adjustment
\nThat continuance of course
\nWhen the nose and toes take on a chill
\nFrom A seemingly colder source<\/p>\n
