{"id":3459,"date":"2012-10-05T15:46:26","date_gmt":"2012-10-05T15:46:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/?p=3459"},"modified":"2012-10-05T17:11:04","modified_gmt":"2012-10-05T17:11:04","slug":"ethel-reel-maiden-of-the-forest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/2012\/10\/ethel-reel-maiden-of-the-forest\/","title":{"rendered":"Ethel Reel maiden of the forest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With her amethyst stone<br \/>\nand her Indian Bells<br \/>\nThe maid of the forest<br \/>\nwhere else she dwells<br \/>\nfloats like a kind<br \/>\nof apparition<br \/>\nclearly on a healing<br \/>\nmission<br \/>\npurple leggings, purple bodice<br \/>\nsome call her the purple goddess<br \/>\ncalm and thoughtful<br \/>\nmindful too<br \/>\nof wild one&#8217;s and<br \/>\nall that they do<br \/>\nforaging avidly<br \/>\nroaming free<br \/>\nthis is the life<br \/>\nbut its solitary<br \/>\nunder the trees<br \/>\non October days<br \/>\nwhen the wind blows<br \/>\ncruel<br \/>\nand has cutting ways<br \/>\nit chills ones<br \/>\nears and freezes<br \/>\none&#8217;s nose<br \/>\nand stiffen the legs<br \/>\nI do suppose<br \/>\nbut its then when she<br \/>\ncomes with her bags<br \/>\nof food<br \/>\nrings her bells<br \/>\nshe won&#8217;t intrude<br \/>\nwithout calling first<br \/>\nand casting light<br \/>\nfrom her amethyst stone<br \/>\nthe refraction, right<br \/>\ndiadems float<br \/>\nthis way and that<br \/>\nand from the forest<br \/>\nthe wild folk at<br \/>\nher beck and call<br \/>\ncome running they<br \/>\nlike to be patted by her<br \/>\neach day<br \/>\nand so do I, its of course<br \/>\na thrill<br \/>\nfor Ethyl Reel<br \/>\nhas such appeal<br \/>\nher hands so soft<br \/>\ndespite the way<br \/>\nshe works<br \/>\nso smooth as the<br \/>\nwhitest clay<br \/>\nher heart is warm<br \/>\nher ways so fine<br \/>\nI know I wish that she<br \/>\nwas mine<br \/>\nbut she&#8217;s a maiden<br \/>\nof the forest dells<br \/>\nthe maiden who rings<br \/>\nher clearing bells<br \/>\nshe carries her amethyst stone<br \/>\naloft<br \/>\nand the rainbows create<br \/>\na mood so soft<br \/>\nlike a moonlit night<br \/>\nlike a fresh spring cloud<br \/>\nlike a snowflake<br \/>\nrichly she&#8217;s endowed<br \/>\nand the wild one&#8217;s know<br \/>\nand they just appear<br \/>\nfrom the thickets of thorns<br \/>\nthat all hunters fear<br \/>\nto the tall birch trees<br \/>\nwhere the leaves of gold<br \/>\ncascade down on paths<br \/>\nand gently hold<br \/>\ncountenance to those<br \/>\nspirits  who<br \/>\nlove the work that the maidens do<br \/>\ngo out in the forest<br \/>\nwhen all is quiet<br \/>\nring their bells<br \/>\nhowever slight<br \/>\nbuffeted by the<br \/>\nharshest of hail<br \/>\nthat chill their bones<br \/>\nas they follow the trail<br \/>\ntender and loving<br \/>\ndraws the crowd<br \/>\nand clearly these gal&#8217;s<br \/>\ncan stand up proud<\/p>\n<p>Ethyl Reel she leads them all<br \/>\nshe is positively lovely<br \/>\nand has a call<br \/>\nLike a nightingale<br \/>\nand a song thrush who<br \/>\nhave joined together<br \/>\nto try and woo<br \/>\nanother possibly off some tree<br \/>\nwith a &#8220;whoo whoo&#8221;
