Gravestones and standing stones
\nOf considerable age
\nAttract, it appears
\nThe lichens who gauge
\nSedentary staging
\nA life force as such
\nAlgae and cyanbacteria
\nMuch
\nAmong living filaments
\nOf fungi we see
\nSymbiotic relationships
\nThats where they be<\/p>\n
At Rollrights the great stones
\nIn Their crevices I
\nSaw bright green cushions
\nTheir cortex high
\nA photobiant layer emerging to show
\nA softness and a brilliance
\nAnd peculiar glow<\/p>\n
I suspect they are light
\nFor the land where the fae
\nEmerge in the darkness
\nAnd are seen to play
\nAttracted by moles who
\nBuild their hills high
\nGelatinous mosses
\nThat point to the sky<\/p>\n
Often they are ancient
\nThe first living things
\nEtched onto bare rock
\nWhich is what brings
\nThe eye to the crevices
\nIt is the air
\nAnd a lack of pollution
