Before the full moon came to be
\nThe darkness was intense
\nThe unilluminated roads
\nReally made no sense
\nTurning into the little lane
\nTo meet the Oxford road
\nI realised the stygian gloom
\nWas not in the highway code<\/p>\n
Driving on sharp headlights
\nWith no other cars in sight
\nThe wild ones came to take a look
\nAppearing from the night
\nThe foxes three in short succession
\nA badger boy as well
\nSeveral deer it just seemed clear
\nSomething they wanted to tell<\/p>\n
This driver on his ownsome
\nOn this over shadowed lane
\nClearly my nocturnal friends
\nCaught in the lights did strain
\nTheir great big eyes to ponder
\nWhy was it that I
\nWas driving through their hamlet
\nLighting up their sky<\/p>\n
Out onto the Oxford road
\nTurning right away
\nHeading left to banbury
\nAt this time of day
\nSuddenly she entered
\nThe great big beaver moon
\nContemplating greatness
\nAnd very much in tune<\/p>\n
Her presence was remarkable
\nShe just posed in the sky
\nWith a clarity revealing
\nThe signs that did apply
\nFor me to get home safely
\nBut not the way I had come
\nAnd I was home in under two hours
\nAnd really that was some<\/p>\n
Journey via the motorway
\nAnd wilmslow so not bad
\nMore animals in hertfordshire
\nClearly very glad
\nThe fireworks clearly had woken
\nThe nocturnal crew
\nThey must have wondered
\nWhat was happening
