Its out there and its happening
\nAnd everyones involved
\nPlastic bags and bottles
\nCan the problem be solved
\nIt gets into the ocean
\nIt gets into the whales
\nIts gets into the turtles
\nTrails and trails and trails<\/p>\n
All along the beaches
\nOn the coming tide
\nThe seabirds are now foraging
\nEverywhere it hides
\nOil based vile pollution
\nPerhaps our greatest threat
\nTrillions of tonnes of plastic waste
\nAnd we are in its debt<\/p>\n
Marine life and cetaceans
\nAre suffering like hell
\nIts mistaken for jelly fish
\nBut it is no magick spell
\nOnce its in the ocean
\nIt is there 500 years
\nFragmenting into pieces
\nAnd causing lots of tears<\/p>\n
Fish thst we are eating
\nAre loaded with this stuff
\nSo we are eating plastic ourselves
\nEnoughs enough
\nMicroplastic is everywhere
\nIts in our guts and throats
\nThe currents take it everywhere
\nAnd its jettisoned off Boats<\/p>\n
Coca cola and pepsi churn these bottles out
\nAnd many will reach the ocean
\nAnd thats without a doubt
\nSingle use the plastic wrap
\nIn our super stores
\nGets into the rubbish sacks
\nAnd ends up on our shores<\/p>\n
We drink it in 10 minutes
\nAnd then its thrown away
\nIt blows around the environment
\nBut its not going to decay
\nNot in any of our life times
\nIts ugly rotten stuff
\nAnd most is never recycled
\nYea its really tough<\/p>\n
Plastic bags are being banned
\nAnd surely they ought to be
\nThey look just like a jelly
\nWhen they are in the sea
\nMany a whale is dying
\nWith its stomach full we hear
\nWith plastic webbing and netting
\nOh Its very very clear<\/p>\n
Unless we stop this nonsense
\nStop throwing it away
\nSomehow stop the corporates
\nMaking us all pay
\nProbably we are finished
\nThe cetaceans are as well
\nFor on this pleasant planet
