It might have started off as an experiment
\nA vast zoo complex bigger than before
\nBasically housing 4000 parrots
\nDolphins Penguins Orca’s Sharks and more
\nAnd all of this on some 33 acres
\nOn Tenerife the Canary Islands where
\nA lot of controversy which is warranted
\nHas happened causing many much despair<\/p>\n
6 killer whales abused in shows until
\nMindlessness took heed
\nUsing them for aquatic shows
\nRelated more to greed
\nThan scientific research
\nWhich is where they went wrong
\nAnd brought about such arrogance
\nWhere they did not belong<\/p>\n
Calves have died controversy
\nReigned and a trainer died
\nOthers have been injured
\nFor a time all that denied
\nKiller whales are wild cetaceans
\nAnd never ever should
\nBe kept in tanks in zoo parks
\nFor that cannot be good<\/p>\n
Keto,Tekoa,Komana,Skyla
\nAdan Morgan Vicky, they
\nSadly had to suffer
\nAll along the way
\nTo me a lack of consciousness
\nA mindset and a wheeze
\nThat just became an obsession
\nHopeful it would please<\/p>\n
A thai village and an orchid park
\nBig cats great apes too
\nSea lions alligators
\nThis is one huge zoo
\nContrary to reason
\nWild souls need to be
\nWild in their own habitat
\nNot in cages seems to me<\/p>\n
Its irrational and unreasoned
\nUnwarranted and unsound
\nThey argue in their circle
\nAnd, cover the ground
\nWith many miscalculations
\nPoor judgement on a scale
\nOf trying to blend an animals life
\nWith just making a sale<\/p>\n
It is short-termism its injustice
\nFor those who
\nBecome just victims actually
\nWith a jaundiced eye we view
\nA business operating
\nWith its animals live and true
\nWho suffer really there is no doubt
\nFrom the workings of a zoo<\/p>\n
A naivete its everywhere
\nEasily duped we are
\nA lack of knowledge a lack of education
\nIt is by far
\nUnfamiliararity crass ignorance and more
\nOblivious to nature
\nUnversed and just raw<\/p>\n
Wild souls need their wildness
\nIt is folly otherwise
\nThe ignorance of visitors
\nWho will not realise
\nThe superficiality
\nThe indiscretions too
\nIts pointless to hold animals
\nIn the confines of a zoo<\/p>\n
In this day and age
\nWe have to feel
\nThe error of their ways
\nCorporations serve their boards
\nAnd really all that plays
\nInto stocks and shareholders
\nNot the animals alas
\nWho suffer from our insanity
\nAnd from what is generally crass<\/p>\n
Uncontrolled imagination
\nCreativity
\nVisualization moral sensibility
\nIts missing from these areas
\nIt truly is unreal
\nUnsubstantial and notional
\nHypothetical I feel<\/p>\n
Far beyond their sell by date
\nPhantoms from long ago
\nMeaningless and nonsensical
\nHow can we build a show
\nOut of living creatures
\nStolen from their place of birth
\nAnd caged up in surroundings
\nThat for them have little worth<\/p>\n
Its misinterpretation
\nThe wrong end of the stick
\nOrca’s in a bath tub
\nProves to me how thick
\nHow misunderstood the creatures are
\nAnd, what they go through
\nNo wonder they snap and injure trainers
\nReally its nothing new<\/p>\n
Dont go there zoo’s of this kind
\nAre cruel places where they
\nImprison all the animals
\nWho become their display
\nConfined in the purdah
\nIts underhand and wrong
\nDont ever buy a ticket
\nFor the animals don’t belong<\/p>\n
