Each of us is somewhere
\nOur presence is our worth
\nWe permeate and thus pervade
\nThis ball known as the Earth
\nWe saturate environments
\nAnd empty spaces we
\nFill up with corporations
\nAnd declare our vacancy<\/p>\n
Tonight a crimson sun
\nHas given way to a sooty sky
\nEach dinosaurian mammoth
\nWith its cyclopean eye
\nObese and overweight
\nOur bloated bodies
\nWe now drag
\nFull of oil and fast food
\nIn the disposable plastic bag<\/p>\n
We are told a storm is imminent
\nWinds could uproot trees
\nLeaves on the line
\nNo where to dine
\nSome feel it in their knees
\nThe methotrexate warriors
\nThe folic acid mob
\nWho know jack frost is coming
\nHis icy breaths to lob<\/p>\n
The sky is now a sort of tan
\nUnlike any sky
\nI have seen for ages
\nI am now wondering why
\nThere is light around the edges
\nThe contrast though is stark
\nThere is a chill fast coming on
\nAnd, making its mark<\/p>\n
The school run has begun in earnest
\nGet the kids home fast
\nNo dawdling in the tuck shop
\nWe are going to feel the blast
\nBut the light is up their fighting
\nPushing the great tan cloud
\nWhat is to become of us
\nThe unsightly malformed shroud<\/p>\n
Allows the sun a passage back through
\nInTo its light
\nAll this time it was sleeping
\nAnd now its burning bright
\nIts glowing from the heavens
\nWith its base tranquillity
\nEternal rest and slumber
\nGetting brighter constantly<\/p>\n
Miraculous it hangs there
\nUnhurried and reserved
\nNo doubt it has made giant strides
\nAnd has been unnerved
\nBut now appears resourceful
\nAs the wind picks up its gait
\nAnd with relentless progress
\nReminds us of our fate<\/p>\n
We have battened down the hatches
\nWe have prayed for fence and wall
\nWe hope the roof stays on the shed
\nAnd our precious tree won’t fall
\nThere is an uncanny silence
\nA lull a hush maybe
\nSomething’s going to happen soon
\nAnd I am no luminary<\/p>\n
My thinking cap’s been on a while
\nAnd a bout of reverie
\nA few hours cogitation
\nAnd my poems number three
\nAll about the lead up
\nTo the storm thats going to be
\nA topic of conversation
