They climb into the sky
\nInside out upside down
\nWith its roots on its head
\nAs some sort of a crown
\nImagine an African child who perceives
\nWhat a tree looks like
\nAnd firmly believes
\nThe tan and the shine
\nAnd the blue of the sky
\nIn his paradise home
\nAnd really was why<\/p>\n
The rain made them swell
\nWith a blistering power
\nGnarled knotted branches
\nThat grew by the hour
\n80 feet high a huge monument to
\nThe ancestral gods
\nThat once walked as they do<\/p>\n
Through the hot summer down draught
\nImagining they
\nCould weave the bark fibres
\nInto baskets some day
\nRopes even clothing
\nThe uses they made
\nTo the bark of the Baobab
\nThat shaded their way<\/p>\n
