A bounty of verdure
\nFlushed with sweet Autumn
\nThese fastidious finicy
\nDiscerning souls
\nThey came with their family
\nTo raid the sweet apples
\nAnd here was a plethora
\nAnd a surfeit of roles<\/p>\n
Was had by the elders
\nTheir long tails a swishing
\nVocalizations bruxing they be
\nClearly bewildered
\nAt what we had done to them
\nFilled up our bags
\nWith all we could see<\/p>\n
A pie of distinction
\nSo full of abundance
\nSoftened by fire
\nIn a sustaining way
\nNutritious and wholesome
\nMoreish and delicious
\nLet us all drool together
\nAnd possibly pay<\/p>\n
Our respect to the goddess
\nFor providing the bounty
\nAnd our commiserations
\nTo the rats when they found
\nThey lost that collection
\nThey thought had been bestowed on them
\nTheir sampling prowess
\nSadly unsound<\/p>\n
We had got wind of their
\nStealth and their penchant
\nFor sweet Autumn apples
\nWih the blush of Mabon
\nThe crispness that frost creates
\nAnd that true sweetness
\nThe unctuous intensity that goes on and on<\/p>\n
Do wild rats feel the same?
\nDo they taste as we do?
\nAre they touched by the lyrical impassioned view
\nThe way that they gnaw with exhuberant ease
\nHot headed and bubbly, really does it please
\nAnd if so imagine their grief and their pain
