All apex predators matter
\nTheir impact really makes
\nA difference in the scheme of things
\nCreation makes no fakes
\nIts man that ruins everything
\nWith his prejudice and pain
\nWith his lack of understanding
\nIf only he would refrain<\/p>\n
To acting up and being
\nAs arrogant as hell
\nAnd baiting out these dingo tribes
\nWho really do so well
\nWithin their true predation
\nThey Reduce the rabbit kind
\nAnd kangaroo populations
\nIf man had half a mind<\/p>\n
To realise his place on earth
\nIs subservient to those
\nFeral beasts who walk the land
\nWhose footstep really shows
\nMuch about the country
\nTerrestial predators do
\nHave a cultural message
\nAnd a diversity thats true<\/p>\n
Respected by the aboriginie
\nFor thousands of years, they
\nBecame part of their culture
\nThrough their stories they did say
\nAnd with art work on the cave walls
\nProved their worth was true
\nPeople had more sense then
\nThey were not, clueless to<\/p>\n
The ways of feral animals
\nHow each became a part
\nEach had their solidity
\nWorking from the heart
\nThey had phenomenal knowledge
\nInstinctive through and through
\nAnd an implicit understanding
\nAnd a knowing of what to do<\/p>\n
These days we see corporate business
\nScrapping in the frame
\nThe newly introduced animals
\nTheir profit making claim
\nRelevant and logical
\nTo the banker and those who
\nKeep livestock and farm animals
\nAnd so know what to do<\/p>\n
Look down on the iconic ones
\nCall them pests and try
\nTo eliminate them every day
\nThey love to watch them die
\nWriggling in agony
\nFrom urea and the rest
\nAlthough its inappropriate
\nThe farmers all know best<\/p>\n
And so they kill the dingo
\nThe kangaroos as well
\nAny excuse to make them suffer
\nThese wandering beasts of hell
\nThey wont be in their stories
\nOr on paintings in some cave
\nJust wretched bones bleached in the sun
\nThat Nobody will save<\/p>\n
And there is now no antidote
\nJust a hostility
\nGenetic pollution through inter breeding
\nIs weakening and we
\nCan feel the Dingo’s terror
\nAdapting in this world
\nAmong great waves of ignorance
\nIn which we are all now hurled<\/p>\n
And environments are altering
\nSoil plants trees they all
\nDepend upon each other
\nAll living creatures call
\nOn Gaia for her true support
\nWhere balance always rules
\nWhere tenacity and spirit
\nSnubs its nose at human fools<\/p>\n
People have to wake up
\nAnd realise their worth
\nAll the iconic children
\nAll are part of earth
\nAustralia’s unique beings
\nNot found anywhere
\nAnd they must be preserved and loved
\nFor without them our despair<\/p>\n
Will grow as frail and fragile lands
\nWither in the heat
\nMeteoric loss of life
\nDying on our feet
\nEach creature has its place in time
\nAnd with our respect they should
\nGo on into posterity
\nWhich Then would be so good<\/p>\n
So in the peaceful quiet of night
\nWhen the nocturnal souls
\nWalk dark paths in silence
\nEach knowing their roles
\nThey share communication
\nHowl and whimper they
\nMinstrels of the moment
\nWho Instinctively know their way<\/p>\n
A source of light and darkness
\nA blush of sunset they
\nLive out in the outback
\nAnd thrive out there each day
\nBlaming them for predation
\nShows an abstractedness
\nA resentment and an anger
