\nThe Stocks
\nThe Greyhound Pub
\na sleepy Hollow, where
\nI stopped a while
\nto take a look
\nat the village
\njust to share<\/p>\n
its magic
\nwith those living
\nfar away
\nwho often say
\nwhat are the little villages like
\nand so I thought
\ntoday could be the day<\/p>\n
its a sleepy little place
\n2 lovely country pubs
\na secluded pond
\nsome Tudor Stocks
\nand a mass of rushes
\nthat unlocks
\nthe history, for this is
\nan ancient village
\nits cottages are handsome
\nand they are
\nof all the little villages
\naround the place
\nAldbury is one, that is a star
\nmaintained in good order
\nancient brick construction
\nwicket fences painted glorious white
\nand really bonny gardens
\non every sort of level its lovely English
\ncountryside al’right<\/p>\n
and all around
\nthe wondrous Ashridge Forests
\na bountiful display
\nof all that’s green
\ntrees, a great abundance
\nof fine specimens
\ngrowing close together
\nsuch a scene
\nDeer’s and Suirrels
\nBadgers, Moles and Foxes
\nall kinds of birds
\na happy throng for sure
\nthe light was at its glorious best this
\nafternoon
\nhighlighting various leaves
\noh yes galore
\nbrackens leaning this way and then that way
\nlonely paths, meandering a while
\nI watched the light change colour
\nthe great easel in the sky
\nlovingly presenting
\nthe forest from on high
\nits something to be proud of
\nreally to understand
\nAshridge is part of our truly
\nprecious Forest Land<\/p>\n
