Existence for them
\nHas been forever
\nAbsolute given and true
\nGenuine physical predators
\nActual objective a tangible force
\nA perfect killing machine
\nThe ocean’s their home
\nIts where they roam
\nGreat big teeth and rather mean<\/p>\n
Thats how we see them
\nA long massive frame
\nA blueprint of genius
\nGood at the game
\nA frightening prospect
\nSuch supremacy
\nHigh powered and commanding
\nDesigned for the sea<\/p>\n
For millions of years
\nThey have Lived to the full
\nNothing can phase them
\nSo successful
\nBut recently anyway
\nApparently we
\nHumans are worried
\nAbout the salt sea<\/p>\n
In Western Australia
\nSurfers abound
\nIts warm and the beaches
\nThey surely astound
\nSo more and more people
\nGo down to the sea
\nWith their sparkly boards
\nWith their wet suits they be<\/p>\n
Enjoying themselves splashing about
\nFull of themselves
\nThere is no doubt
\nThe crash of the waves
\nAnd riding them well
\nGives the ego a burst
\nIn the blue of the swell<\/p>\n
As ability increases
\nEnablement comes
\nThere’s a kinetic energy
\nA beat of the drums
\nAnd its not unnoticed
\nThat new energy
\nThat red blooded
\nSpike
\nand that capacity<\/p>\n
Humpbacks with calves
\nNow move closer to shore
\nWhere other prey animals
\nLive in the raw
\nIt draws in the sharks
\nThe predators who
\nBring their vigour and power
\nTo a coastline near you<\/p>\n
Thete are turbulent times
\nIn the oceans we know
\nAll sorts of danger
\nAnd toxins on show
\nLess whales being slaughtered
\nSo more likely to
\nBe close into shore
\nA factor thats new<\/p>\n
Shark fishing going on
\nShark watching too
\nPigs blood and pigs heads
\nTossed in the blue
\nHumans in the water
\nDoing their thing
\nAnd sharks feeling hungry
\nHoping to bring<\/p>\n
Their purchase to play
\nTheir charisma and power
\nThe dominant predator
\nWill show us how
\nOur vulnerability
\nWe fail to see
\nWe know sharks live here
\nBut we all hopefully<\/p>\n
Suppress that fear
\nWhy would they strike
\nPerhaps they are hungry
\nJust perhaps they like
\nOur kind of size
\nAnd our blood spill
\nAnd the fact that seldom
\nAre we ever still<\/p>\n
There have been ten fatalities
\nIn recent year
\nAnd the cry then goes out
\nWith media fear
\nTo murder all great whites
\nTo kill them on sight
\nAs if that will stop them
\nAre two wrongs right?<\/p>\n
Beaches closed hits the pockets
\nOf town councils who
\nDive shops and surf shops
\nAnd the ancillary crew
\nSunshine and blue sky
\nIts what life’s about
\nPredation is natural
\nThe balance must be
\nMaintained its the yin and the yang
\nIn the sea<\/p>\n
We dont live in the sea
\nWe just visit the place
\nWe want little bits of it
\nAll over the place
\nIf you like we invade
\nWe parade we make noise
\nFor us its not serious
\nJust one of the joys<\/p>\n
For them its their life
\nThey live and they die
\nThey have greater senses
\nAnd some they apply
\nFar in advance of what we can do
\nOn our fibre glass boards
\nSplashing out in the blue<\/p>\n
We can be curious they can be too
\nSniffing us out
\nAttentive a few
\nWant to show interest
\nNosing around
\nAnd we unconcerned
\nAbout what might be around<\/p>\n
This the scenario
\nAnd this could be
\nWhy there are more attacks
\nOut in the sea
\nThere are more of us
\nMessing about
\nSwimming and diving and surfing
\nJust out<\/p>\n
In kayaks on jet ski’s
\nOn boats we are there
\nDoing our dambdest to prove we dont care
\nWe ignore we pass over
\nReckless some are
\nWe step on the stage where
