Gaia from tbe beginning of time
\nSupposedly
\nHad dismissed her imperfections
\nAs part of history
\nThe elephant so much like man
\nIn that the length of time allowed
\nIs close to them with humans
\nClearly so endowed<\/p>\n
With wisdom and with empathy
\nA good age in which to learn
\nBut why give them great teeth of ivory
\nWould we discern
\nThe difference using keratin
\nIn the rhino’s horn
\nBut what became sought after
\nAnd also became torn<\/p>\n
From the souls for reasons
\nOther than how they were
\nUtilized by the animals
\nIt never did occur
\nTo creation that these materials
\nWould find another place
\nIn medicine or in jewellery
\nA horrific disgrace<\/p>\n
Human vulnerability
\nLeft the pachyderms
\nMurdered in their thousands
\nWe couldnt come to terms
\nWith this method of recycling
\nA warped human trait
\nDefective and deficient
\nAnd bound to violste<\/p>\n
A creature that was affable
\nA workhorse So inclined
\nA clearly enobled animal
\nWith a sound and precious mind
\nA giant of land animals
\nWhere the matriarch tends to be
\nUnlike the human kingdom
\nPatriarchal to a tee
\nAnd could this be some reason
\nWhy the pachyderms afe killed
\nFor Rhino horn and ivory
\nFor both, their blood is spilled<\/p>\n
Had gaia with her wisdom
\nReally never stooped to think
\nThat keratin and ivory
\nWould drag them to the brink
\nOf survival in this world
\nOf spiteful frightful hateful greed
\nThat tusks and horns would become
\nsought after in such quantities
