Rapiers sharp
\nGreat daggers of rock
\nJagged and rugged
\nA monadnock
\nProtectively harbouring
\nThose now within
\nThe natural protection
\nOf this limestone skin<\/p>\n
Such forbidding cliffs
\nPointing to the sky
\nSo deftly dangerous
\nAnd remarkably high
\nOnly the masters of walking upon
\nThe unique lemurs
\nThat range in on and on<\/p>\n
With their extra thick padding
\nOn fingers and feet
\nBeguiling souls
\nWho do so compete
\nThese wide eyed acrobats
\nHave made their place
\nOn this rocky escarpment
\nIn this iconic place.<\/p>\n
As well as the Lemur
\nThe nile Crocodile
\nA relic of prehistory
\nSpends a while
\nSat the mud banks of rivers
\nAnd streams
\nSoaking up sunlight
\nAnd weaving their dreams<\/p>\n
A curious trait for the
\nFor the crocodile hordes
\nIs the very extensive
\nCaves system, rewards
\nAre no doubt available to those who try
\nTo find a fresh habitat under the sky<\/p>\n
In the darkness
\nThe solid watery way
\nFrequented by bats
\nAnd by humans who pay
\nRespect to ancestors
\nLying in state
\nDead to the world
\nIn what is thevlong wait<\/p>\n
But how can these reptiles
\nWho live for the light
\nOf the sun for their warmth
\nIn their caverns of night
\nHow do they manage
\nHow do they feed
\nIn the great darkly swathes
\nWhich seemingly lead<\/p>\n
Into the underworld
\nFar far below
\nThe great limestone daggers
\nThat clearly do grow
\nSuch bizarre behaviour
\nEach menacing smile
\nWaiting for lemurs
\nTo put on the style<\/p>\n
To come for the water
\nAlive with such life
\nShrimps mostly blind
\nIn a new world of strife
\nWhere the new squatter clan
\nHave invaded and lie
\nWaiting for those who seek water
\nMost high<\/p>\n
As the brien eyes cime slurping
\nThe waters they know
\nA leap into fortune
\nAnd a meal is on show
\nSpeed and surprise
\nCan create for real
\nAn unsuspecting sweet furry meal<\/p>\n
Sun loving crocs in dark dreary place
\nDeepnin the caves
\nWithout sun on their face
\nThe masters of darkness
\nThe fruit bats on high
\nWhose guano draws maggots
\nAnd fish now that ply<\/p>\n
Cold blooded survivors
\nIn these canyons beyond
\nThe power of the sun
\nAnd no magic wand
\nTo protect their prehistory
\nAnd their domain
\nIn these great secret gardens
