A whale approaches the shoreline
\nIndicating he
\nIs sick and needs some help
\nAnd they shoot him
\nThus his plea<\/p>\n
Fell on their deaf ears of course
\nThey would rather see him dead
\nAnd when they then cut into him
\nAs the whale had fed
\nOn what he thought were jelly fish
\nBut turned out to be bags
\nMade of polyethylene
\nFor us they are the flags<\/p>\n
Marked danger but mistaken
\nFor jelly fish and so
\nSwallowed up and gradually
\nAs the numbers grow
\nThey will kill the whale
\nOr turtle and they harmed this whale
\nAnd humans being what they are
\nObviously we fail<\/p>\n
The oceans now are Chock a block
\nThe water column will
\nBe full of dissolved particles
\nThis water it will kill
\nSome Plastic breaks down rapidly
\nIn a year or two
\nBut others
\nWill be floating for a thousand years
\nThey do<\/p>\n
Cause immeasurable damage
\nAnd toxicity can be
\nPassed onto to each other
\nWith predation obviously
\n10 bags per foot of coastlines
\nThat is about the norm
\nTorn into the oceans and seas
\nDuring a storm<\/p>\n
Or coming via the wind
\nOf really just thrown into the sea
\nOr from these passenger liners
\nWho dump stuff constantly<\/p>\n
The chemicals that are made up
\nApof different plastics they
\nBreak down in the saline
\nAre dissolved there so to say
\nCant be seen with the human eye
\nBut still obviously there
\nabd can be contained in muscle
\nAnd we are not aware<\/p>\n
So its about accumulation
\nThe animals are first
\nThey are on the front line
\nEating till they burst
\nWe then eat subject our bodies
\nTo the vagaries of those
\nWho conceal the wretched debris
\nAnd indude of us it grows<\/p>\n
Cetaceans are already dying
\nFrom trash zones everywhere
\nMicroplastic blocks the light
\nWhich the plankton Wants to share
\nIts the building block of nature
\nBeing disassembled here
\nAll creatures really big and small
\nLive in this soup of fear<\/p>\n
About eight million metric tons
\nDumped into the sea
\nThis phenomenal great huge dust bin
\nWe all know where it be
\nWe are irresponsible a lot of us anyway
\nAnd so our precious oceans die
\nA little more each day<\/p>\n
Birds are eating tonnes of it
\nThere are huge zones everywhere
\nLeft there on our beaches thrown off liners
\nSuch despair
\nPredators eating smaller fish
\nEat the plastic they contain
\nIt bio accumulates in their guts
\nWe really are insane<\/p>\n
Those of us now eating fish
\nIngest the plastic waste
\nAnd all the real toxicity
\nAnd this now must be faced
\nOur skeletons are toxic
\nReally its everywhere
\nMost of us live from day to day
\nOn a wing and on a prayer<\/p>\n
Perhaps its wishful thinking
\nA kind of pious fraud
\nThat the fish upon the msrket slab
\nIs ofcourse our due reward
\nWe forget the retrogression
\nAbd the degeneracy
\nWe forget we are in danger
\nFrom the toxicity<\/p>\n
Coming back to the whale poor soul
\nHe came to ask us to
\nHelp him in his sickened state
\nBut we are riddled through
\nWith all tbe shit imaginable
\nOur mortality
\nis also beginning to surface
\nWe are no longer free<\/p>\n
We though have to be responsible
\nUse less plastic every day
\nMuch came with the supermarkets
\nWho just gave loads away
\nUse a permanent shopping bag
\nNever let balloons fly
\nEach of us must think more
\nOr the planet is going to die.<\/p>\n
