The philosopher the sensitive
\nWhose originality is marvellously important
\nHigh in the canopy
\nIts about innovation and individuality
\nIn many ways primordial
\nOutside the box reality<\/p>\n
A genius its frame of mind
\nBeholden to no one
\nBecause it moves so slowly
\nIts a phantom in the sun
\nThoughtfully moving upwards
\nApparently in fun<\/p>\n
Its face is one of happiness
\nA solitary soul
\nIt can rotate its head
\n90 degrees it gets control
\nLong claws used to hang around
\nWhilst feeding on fresh leaves
\nFrom the topper most branches
\nFull of light which then achieves<\/p>\n
A laboured kind of upward gait
\nWhich is mindful in its way
\nIt uses its amazing smell
\nTo mind map and to pay
\nAttention to the state of branches
\nWhich could ofcourse be
\nOld and liable to snap
\nThen a calamity<\/p>\n
That would be and so the need
\nTo be sensitively armed
\nClaws and smell and a sloth like gait
\nSo as to not be harmed
\nBecause it moves so slowly
\nIt attracts an algae bloom
\nGiving it a greenish tinge
\nWhich Clearly in the gloom
\nEven less conspicuous
\nAnd being ultra slow
\nThe acrobat of high tree dance
\nPuts on a private show<\/p>\n
Within its fur the sloth moth
\nIs a resident and they
\nRide around on the sloths thick skin
\nA life force that helps pay
\nChewing leaves are hard work
\nA four part stomach though
\nGoes along way towards digestion
\nAnd helps with its poo flow<\/p>\n
Once a week its toilet day
\nWhen it climbs down to the ground
\nLeaves pile of illustrious poop
\nAnd sloth moths leave and when found
\nLay their eggs in its riches
\nAnd there they will pupate
\nWhich is a weird relationship
\nAnd the strangest trait<\/p>\n
Close up a nice pot belly
\nA face almost a smile
\nSome have two toes some have three
\nLike a medium dog on style
\n10,000 years ago they were gigsntic
\nImagine that
\nCloser to the elephant
\nThan a medium dog or cat<\/p>\n
The cloud forests its a real world
\nA dreamy state of affairs
\nIts good at sleeping its good at climbing
\nHigh branches are like stairs
\nSix to eight feet a minute
\nWith this rather wavy gait
\nNot much in common with anyone
\nYou probably have to wait<\/p>\n
Along time if you see one
\nThe poet of the trees
\nAble to smell each picture
\nHence to walk with ease
\nSolo lives are strengthening
\nThe spirit and the soul
\nThe muscles and the sinews
\nHelping to control<\/p>\n
Its balance and its steadiness
\nFor really very high
\nOne false move and the crashing
\nDown of bodies as they fly
\nConformity is everything
\nWhen falling from the sky<\/p>\n
The sloth is a good swimmer
\nBreast stroke is its thing
\nIt has a lot of qualities
\nAnd to its life does bring
\nA slow and thoughtful climbing
\nHigh into the canopy
\nEncompassed by the evergreens
\nWhose progression remarkably<\/p>\n
Is managing its environment
\nEverywhere it goes
\nA wayfarer and explorer
\nA sundowner who knows
\nThe leisureliness of low-gear
\nTo dawdle for a while
\nDeliberately soft-pedalling
\nWhere each step can beguile<\/p>\n
