{"id":33110,"date":"2017-05-13T09:52:49","date_gmt":"2017-05-13T09:52:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/?p=33110"},"modified":"2017-05-13T10:58:07","modified_gmt":"2017-05-13T10:58:07","slug":"the-aquaria-trade-and-the-indigenous-people-of-barcelos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/2017\/05\/the-aquaria-trade-and-the-indigenous-people-of-barcelos\/","title":{"rendered":"The Aquaria Trade and the indigenous people of Barcelos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The humic acid content<br \/>\nOf the various leaves that fall<br \/>\nInto the RIO NEGRO<br \/>\nMake the colouration rule<br \/>\nOf, strong dark tea colour<br \/>\nA blackwater river thus<br \/>\nAnd within this unique river<br \/>\nAt least 600 plus<\/p>\n<p>Fish aome big aome tiny<br \/>\nFrom floresta a village scene<br \/>\nOf indigenous hunters<br \/>\nSailing forth<br \/>\nTo hunt the Cardinal Tetra<br \/>\nIts iridescent blue<br \/>\nA shoal fish from the backwaters<br \/>\nThat are popular and do<\/p>\n<p>Earn a bunch of money<br \/>\n2 dollars a thousand they get<br \/>\nWhich is really hardly anything<br \/>\nThe margin seemingly Set<br \/>\nto give  little to the locals<br \/>\nAnd much to the pet trade<br \/>\nWhich is why they are now breeding them<br \/>\nAnd the indigenous wild fish fade<br \/>\nOut of need and market<br \/>\nWhich is to be a shame<br \/>\nFor those men employed in this simple life<br \/>\nMay log forests Thats the claim<\/p>\n<p>Its wrong of course to continue<br \/>\nTaking tetra&#8217;s from the wild<br \/>\nBut if its done on a local scale<br \/>\nThe effects are pretty mild<br \/>\nThey then go off to Barcelos<br \/>\nAnd sometimes to Manaus<br \/>\nWhere the bigger wholesaler boats dock<br \/>\nAnd really  that is how<\/p>\n<p>Its best that wild fish taken<br \/>\nContinue at this size<br \/>\nShipping them all around the world<br \/>\nOfcourse a percentage dies<br \/>\nThe indigenous get very little<br \/>\nAnd it their boats all day<br \/>\nTo find these shoals and capture them<br \/>\nFor very little pay<\/p>\n<p>Now the Aquaria Trade is breeding them<br \/>\nAnd the indigenous may find<br \/>\nTheir fishing job is over<br \/>\nAnd that can blow their mind<br \/>\nWillingly they work for next to nothing<br \/>\nEveryday<br \/>\nTaking their 5 to 10 thousand<br \/>\nAnd earning their moderate pay<\/p>\n<p>But if  the West decides to cease<br \/>\nThen these men just may feel<br \/>\nThe need is then to log the forests<br \/>\nThe threat is very real<br \/>\nThe work is hard but they may earn more<br \/>\nAnd the sustained trade will be<br \/>\nRuined by the greed of men<br \/>\nWho really wants to see<\/p>\n<p>A bigger profit coming<br \/>\nAnd this will surely be<br \/>\nDisastrous for the fishermen<br \/>\nWhose way of life will see<br \/>\nA massive change and environments<br \/>\nWill suffer thats for sure<br \/>\nThe triple bottom line is something<br \/>\nCorporates ignore<\/p>\n<p>Another soul tbats sought after<br \/>\nIs the Pipa toad<br \/>\nAn amazing flat creative beast<br \/>\nWith a miraculous code<br \/>\nHow it breeds and creates its young<br \/>\nAnd again aquaria do<br \/>\nLike to get some of these toads<br \/>\nFor apparently they screw<\/p>\n<p>Big prices from the foreigners<br \/>\nSo there is money to be made<br \/>\nBut its presently done on a tiny scale<br \/>\nIts not an awful raid<br \/>\nOn the wilderness creatures<br \/>\nIts so small scale and we<br \/>\nMust hope  the indigenous continue<br \/>\nTo work sustainably.<\/p>\n<p>Its a really beautiful river<br \/>\nWith a emerald forest around<br \/>\nAnd a huge array of creatures<br \/>\nThe forests do abound<br \/>\nIts a very seasonable river<br \/>\nFrom October the depth is low<br \/>\nRight through till December<br \/>\nWhen the depths begin the grow<\/p>\n<p>Thats when the glorious butterflies<br \/>\nHover overhead<br \/>\nabsorbing the mineral salts<br \/>\nAnd leave when they are fed<br \/>\nTheir colours are amazing<br \/>\nA phenomena of scale<br \/>\nSeeing them together<br \/>\nEvery shade of pale<\/p>\n<p>The beautiful Boto Dolphin<br \/>\nA remarkably vocal beast<br \/>\nA life saver for villagers<br \/>\nDrowning they at least<br \/>\nIf around can offer<br \/>\nHelp and certainly<br \/>\nHave saved a lot of people<br \/>\nIn dire straits<br \/>\nApparently<\/p>\n<p>Macaws and beautiful parrots<br \/>\nAnd rodents and monkeys appear<br \/>\nTo live in true acceptance<br \/>\nOf each other<br \/>\nAnd its seems clear<br \/>\nNAtural ways of life exist<br \/>\nhere<br \/>\nIts all as it should be<br \/>\nThe river is the mother<br \/>\nAnd all feed adequately<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The humic acid content Of the various leaves that fall Into the RIO NEGRO Make the colouration rule Of, strong dark tea colour A blackwater river thus And within this unique river At least 600 plus Fish aome big aome &hellip;
