{"id":33017,"date":"2017-05-04T16:00:38","date_gmt":"2017-05-04T16:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/?p=33017"},"modified":"2017-05-06T21:13:53","modified_gmt":"2017-05-06T21:13:53","slug":"more-on-beltaine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/2017\/05\/more-on-beltaine\/","title":{"rendered":"More on beltaine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Lilacs are all a flourish<br \/>\nAs are the chestnuts, they<br \/>\nWith their candle blossoms<br \/>\nAre welcoming each day<br \/>\nThe copper beech<br \/>\nAt last its leaves<br \/>\nHave exciting colour<br \/>\nThat achieves<br \/>\nA rhapsody for wintry eyes.<br \/>\nStill laden down with hot frost pies<br \/>\nNo rain to speak of<br \/>\nBut the cost<br \/>\nIs even in may<br \/>\nSome morning frost<\/p>\n<p>The spring bulbs came and went<br \/>\nWe know<br \/>\nThe dandelions this year<br \/>\nDid glow<br \/>\nThe blue bells felt the hailstones<br \/>\nAnd<br \/>\nThe little lambs didn&#8217;t understand<br \/>\nNow its Beltaine  so they say<br \/>\nBehold the so called first of May<br \/>\nThe may poles phallic feel is here<br \/>\nMaidens clad in ribbons cheer<br \/>\nThe heart for certain that they do<br \/>\nBut despite that<br \/>\nIts a cold one too<\/p>\n<p>Rivers have dried up<br \/>\nAnd they say<br \/>\nhose pipe bans<br \/>\nAre on the way<br \/>\nBale fires burning<br \/>\nSo that we<br \/>\nCan thaw out<br \/>\nAnd now hopefully<\/p>\n<p>Realise that Summers come<br \/>\nMay blossom was early<br \/>\nRule of thumb<br \/>\nsharing the rollright symphony<br \/>\nThe ancestral strength<br \/>\nAppears to me<br \/>\nIts the knowledge of justice<br \/>\nAnd the love of it we<br \/>\nAs druids beyond all else<br \/>\nCan see<\/p>\n<p>To be read out at the ritual on 7\/5<br \/>\nAt the rollrights stones during the<br \/>\nMead and cake session by Zakoor the BArd<br \/>\nOf the Corswold Order of Druids.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Lilacs are all a flourish As are the chestnuts, they With their candle blossoms Are welcoming each day The copper beech At last its leaves Have exciting colour That achieves A rhapsody for wintry eyes.
