45 years and 85 years of age
\n2 elehants, they
\n each have worked their butts
\nOff every single day
\nSlaving in the hot sun
\nLogging chained up they
\nSuffering the bull hook
\nFor thats the common way<\/p>\n
Wild elephants are captured
\nAnd broken in phajan
\nAre up against the obtuseness
\nOf the human who because he can
\ncompletely bully these amazing beasts
\nOn the logging hills
\nVery dangerous conditions
\nAnd a constant clash of wills<\/p>\n
Prisoners taken advantage of
\nUntil their mental state
\nIs shot away and broken
\nAs is their parlous gait
\nThey get injured and neglected
\nFed on the poorest food
\nBull hooked if they show dissent
\nuntil they stay subdued<\/p>\n
Riding on the elephants
\nAnd watching elephants draw
\nOr doing tricks in circus
\nFir them its like a war
\nThese huge great beasts
\nShow so much restraint
\nThey have to or they will
\nGet beaten up and theur lives cut short
\nAnd its like this well until<\/p>\n
They die, these totally social creatures
\nGreat matriarchs who should
\nBe leading a great herd of friends
\nWhich of course they would
\nIf it wasnt for so called man kind
\nWho absolves himself from pain
\nBy taking it out on these beautiful souls
\nWho give and can never gain<\/p>\n
These two friends were recently
\nGiven sanctuary
\nCollected from an elephant park
\nIn Surin not a place to be
\nFrom the Mun river to the Dangrek Mountains
\nThis place in the North East
\nIs where there is an elephant park
\nA place most do like least<\/p>\n
LEk the famous Lek with her huband Derek
\nIn Chang Mei
\nHave the elephant sanctuary
\nWhich is the reason why
\nBoth elephants both lovely friends
\nHave been purchased so that they
\nCan come over to the sanctuary
\nAnd pass their time away<\/p>\n
BOON MEE for 85 Years
\nHas sweated through a life
\nBeen a slave to the human
\nHer every day such strife
\nAll those Laborious hill climbs
\nTugging and heaving trees
\nIts ugly bruising awful work
\nAs the world at large agrees<\/p>\n
And so now loaded in their trucks
\nA new mahout in tow
\nThe road trip back some 20 hours
