Feeding the community
\nA task some see as fun
\nStriking at a bowhead whale
\nWhen all is said and done
\nHas a degree of valour
\nBut a species of this kind
\nThat has swum around for two hundred years
\nA female just to find
\nSuch an awesome creature
\nIs to give respect not try
\nTo hunt a noble bow head
\nAnd to see it die<\/p>\n
They never leave the arctic
\nNot particularly sociable they
\nAre solitary or move in small pods
\nTheir existence we can say
\nIs miraculous creation
\nWith the biggest mouth of all
\nA baleen whale without a dorsal fin
\nAnd as a rule<\/p>\n
Is slow seemingly confident
\n57 feet in length
\nUndeniably miraculous
\nWith unbelievable strength
\nTo break through ice
\nSo to see a young teenager
\nJust 16
\nStrike and kill a female whale
\nis unbelievably mean<\/p>\n
And The threat
\nThat such an animal can
\nBe put to death for being
\nAnywhere near man
\nIn Gambell they love to eat whales
\nAnd AGRAGIIG felt the need
\nTo slaughter this great ocean beast
\nAnd be happy to watch it bleed<\/p>\n
But its not as if they are starving
\nAnd the need is actually there
\nThis boy is at high school
\nSo feelings he has to share
\nBasically by killing such a venerable
\nBeast he does
\nGain a lot of kudos
\nAnd he gets his buzz<\/p>\n
And so he struck and slaughtered
\nThis 200 year old whale
\nAnd I agree it is wrong who ever kills
\nThe ugly trail
\nOf blood and guts and life itself
\nPaul Watson he saw through
\nThe magic of the slaughter
\nAnd what this lad did do<\/p>\n
And stood up to be counted
\nRegretting this whale died
\nAnd they levelled at him
\nRemarks of being racial
\nIn his stride
\nThis man puts his life on the line
\nTo try and save all whales
\nAnd so to see another slaughtered
\nCompassion for them fails<\/p>\n
Every life that is lost
\nFrom creation is a loss too far
\nThe miracle which was this wondrous beast
\nTo go out there and spar
\nWith what is such nobility
\nWhose age alone is great
\nWho earned respect with her great size
\nWho dares compensate?<\/p>\n
Creation for such evil
\nThe enormity of the crime
\nFor a sixteen year old to carry this out
\nIs bound to weigh in time
\nComplete lack of respect
\nAnd a vile inadequacy
\nA matriarch of such proportions
\nMet an untimely death
\nIll-omened in the scheme of things
\nTo deny her the shared breath<\/p>\n
Extinguished by the flood of youth
\nAll pervading and uncouth
\nLooking to impress it feels
\nInsensitively it now reveals
\nMindless and wanting to a degree
\nDisorientated possibly
\nTo me an illogicality
\nA kind of gullibility
\nShort sighted and gung hoish
\nAnd inexperienced actually
\nSubsistence for the indigenous peoples
\nSeemingly is shot away
\nKilling bowheads in the Arctic
